165: Michell Mesenbrink vs. Cameron Amine (CA or Amine)

Big match for Mesenbrink

Per 1
Mesenbrink on the attack right off the whistle. Stoppage for interlocking with 2:42 left. CA with undercooks, and a stoppage with 2:25 left. MM reaches for a single, nothing. CA doing nothing. 1:15 left. Stall warning on CA. Stoppage for PD with 1:00 left. CA sort of reaches, nothing. CA keeps working the edge. OOB with 21 sec and stall call on CA, 1-0. End

Per 2
CA takes bottom. MM working a half nelson, but CA get to his feet and is out, 1-1. CA working the edge again. MM shoots, and they are OOB with 1:14 left (could have called stalling there). MM reaches, nothing. Stalemate with 53 sec left. MM shoots, and a stall warning on CA, 2-0. OOB with 34 sec. MM with a double and gets the TD, 5-0. He's working a cross face and showed his forearm. End. RT @ 47 sec for Mesenbring

Per 3
Mesenbrink takes bottom. MM to his feet, and is out in 5 sec, 6-1. Mesenbrink pursues and CA goes OOB with 1:33 left, and he gets hit with stalling, 8-1. Stalemate with 1:21 left. MM shoots a double, CA sprawls. Mesenbrink spins around behind for the TD, 11-1 with 1 min left. MM train got work a tilt. RT is over 1 min for MM. MM nearly lets him go, but doesn't. MM trying to get a cradle. Nothing. End. With RT, it's a 12-1 MAJ for Mesenbrink.

Wow!

7-0, PSU
Wow is right. Completely owned Amine. He can run but he can’t hide

Said it all year last year and again now. They don't do anything. They've probably taken less than 10 shots combined in their college careers against anyone with a pulse

Update from Byers: Starocci didn't work out last night or this morning. Barraclough weighed in at 165.8 because he can't go much higher due to the NCAA rules requiring not going too far above the weight you want to compete at for nationals if Mesenbrink would get hurt. So he's giving up plenty of pounds here.

174: Terrell Barraclough vs. Shane Griffith (SG)

Barraclough weight in 165.8, I think Byers said

Per 1
Bear Claw sort of shoots, nothing. nothing thru 1:30. Stalemate for interlocking with 1:18 left. SG sort tries a throw-by, nothing. End

Per 2
Bear Claw defers, and SG takes bottom. SG tries a switch, blocked, then flattened. To his base, and then a stout, but Bear Claw is with him. SG works up. SG to his feet, Bear Claw throws in a leg and returns him. SG up again, and taken back down. Stoppage with 54 sec as a stall warning on Bear Claw. SG sites out, then back under, then up, and Bear Claw has him and they are dancing and then OOB with 33 sec. Caution on Bear Claw. SG hits a switch and gets a reversal, 0-2. End. RT @ 1:10 for Bear Claw. Michigan seems to have challenged that there should have been NF. On the replay, it's close, but I don't think he was past 45 degrees. Call is confirmed.

Per 3
Bear Claw takes neutral. A flurry, but nothing. Bear Claw reaches, nothing. Bear Claw in on a single, SG does a split with a whizzer. They are on the edge. SG trying to drag off the mat and Bear Claw trying to pull him in. SG gets free. End. With 1:10 in RT, it becomes a 1-2 DEC for Shane Griffith

7-3, PSU

Griffith stalled out the 3rd against Barraclough! No shots by Griffith. That's one deep wrestling room!

Think for a moment how ridiculous it is that Penn State can bump a guy up a weight class on short notice and only surrender a decision to the No. 4 wrestler in the country despite giving up basically 10 pounds. Incredible.

Geez Bernie must get more aggressive. He should be getting bonus against this guy. Guy even said he is a heavy favorite.

184: Bernie Truax vs. Jaden Bullock (JB)

Per 1
Truax with a low single, and then shelfs it, and gets behind but they are on the feet, then briefly to the knees but JB spins and they are square. Stalemate with 2:26. Truax wants them to throw a brick, but PSU elects not to. PD stoppage with 2:21 left. Truax reaches, nothing, then JB shoots, nothing. 1:30 left. Truax with another low single but JB kicks out. Truax reaches agin with 1 min left, nothing. End

Per 2
JB defers, so Truax takes bottom. Caution on Truax. Truax to his feet, elevated, and then spins and out, 1-0. JB shoots and nearly has a double but they go OOB. A Michigan fan throws a hat out on the mat -- so classy. Truax with an ankle pick, JB with an ankle pick, then Truax shelfs it, and gets behind as they go OOB. Rivera says no TD, then the AR talks with him and they award the TD to Truax. 4-0. I'm not sure if they are doing a refs review or if JB had blood. Either way, a stoppage. The refs are definitely reviewing the video, and the TD is waved off, so it's 1-0, with 27 sec left. Truax with a reach, nothing. End. RT @ 7 sec for Truax

Per 3
JB takes bottom. JB up quickly and turns in for the esc in @ 3 sec, 1-1. RT not a factor. Truax reaches, nothing. Truax with undercooks, and then they are separated. Truax in on a low single, a stall call on JB, and Turn gets behind for the TD, 4-1. 30 sec left (about). Truax has a boot in. End It's a 4-1 DEC for Truax

Seemed like Bullock def had a TD and Bernie should have, as his foot moved off mat after control. Bernie seems to be a guy who does his best wrestling in March, so we should trust the process

Need bonus from Brooks. Michigan is very tough in their light weights. Be great to get a tech fall or pin here.

197: Aaron Brooks vs. Bobby Striggow (BS)

Byers says PSU has now gone 16 bouts without giving up a TD. The last TD they gave up was to Munoz @ 184 (against Truax) in the Oregon State dual.

Per 1
AB with a single to a double for the TD, 3-0. He's working a bar on the edge. AB guides BS OOB with 2:09 left. AB working a 2-on-1. He switches to a bar, but stoppage for PD as the arm came too far away from the body. 1:26 left. BS to his feet and out, 3-1. AB with an undertook and shrugs by for a TD, 6-1. He cuts BS, 6-2. AB get a single, they are on the edge, AB trying to pull him back in, but they go OOB with 30 sec. AB with another throw-by from an underhook to a TD, 9-2. End. RT over 1 min for AB

Per 2
AB takes bottom. He's to his feet, returned, to his feet again, and then hits a switch for a reversal, 11-2. AB cuts him, 11-3. OOB with 1:32 left. AB with undercooks to a single and a TD, 14-3. Then he cuts him, 14-4. AB with another TD, 17-4. (They are showing 16-4). AB cuts him, 16-5. AB with a TD, 19-5. As they go OOB, with RT it's a TF @ 4:16

(Sorry about messing up the scoring)
