Hempstead, N.Y. – The Seton Hall defense stood tall once again, holding Hofstra to just one shot on goal in a scoreless draw on Thursday night to conclude non-conference play.
The clean sheet is Seton Hall's fifth in a row, setting a new program record for consecutive shutouts. The Pirates are also unbeaten through their first six matches of a season for the first time ever.
How it Happened
The first half was very quiet, with both sides recording just one total shot in the first 45 minutes of the match. Both attacks grew more aggressive in the second half, putting up eight shots apiece. Seton Hall goalkeeper Kate Kleinsmith was tested on a few occasions late, having to make her lone save of the night in the 85th minute on a shot from Hailey Moschitta. Kleinsmith's save rebounded back into the box, where Moschitta had another look at goal which was sent high.
Hofstra threatened with several set pieces, tallying five corner kicks on the night which the Pirates were able to successfully defend. The clean sheet extends the team's shutout streak to 519:45, as their only goal conceded on the year came in the 21st minute in the season opener against FDU.
