Kansas blew it at the end with their too quick fouls....... and then letting Darling free for his winning layup. The fact they only had 2 fouls in such an intensely defensive match up to that point didn't help them at the end. Wasn't able to watch the whole game.... but the 2nd half foul disparity was glaring.

Pitino almost.blew the game keeping Darling on bench too long in both the first half and down the stretch. I think Jackson was finally getting going and he wanted to give him more confidence. Almost an awful meltdown.

Kansas made a run late. Too talented and Peterson too good of a player to contain for long stretches. I don't know why Pitino played Jackson more than Darling, but my guess is it was because Jackson was making some shots and Darling was hesitant and had missed a million in a row over several games (at least that's what they said during the telecast). But I haven't won 900+ games and been to a million Sweet 16's, so I'm sure whatever the reason was, it was a good one.

Two top 10 Kenpom defensive teams produced the exact type of game I thought it would unless Peterson went bananas, and they contained him enough. Game within the game was fascinating with two of the best coaches making various adjustments.

I am very happy st johns won. Very important for the conference and Zuby not getting on all.america team is a travesty. St Johns is my winner on my brackets. Pitino is a great coach.Need Darling in down the stretch on that team. I doubt it will happen again this season.

I didnt like SJ throwing it back on all the inbounds plays on the last sequence. I hated Zuby taking that last 3. And Darling makes his first shot of the game and saves their butts. Nice

0 fouls for either team for the first seven minutes of the second half, followed by 8 St. John's fouls vs 2 for Kansas in the next 7 minutes. That certainly aided the Kansas run.

Jacking 35 three point attempts when you should be pounding it inside to the BE POY will normally aid in that disparity.

Zuby averages 8 FTA per game. Did get there 8 times (6-8). Was 6-10 from 2 pt field goal range. Yet even he hoisted 4 three point attempts (0-4).

Shocked that Pitino isn’t catching more slack for that offense game plan. It almost cost them in the end.

They got wide open looks. It was a good game plan by Self.

Kansas was double/tripling Zuby. I wanted to see him get it more too, but I think they had to make some shots or inside d would get even tighter. RP even said in the sideline intervIew they are going to keep taking open 3s. I think zubys 1st round game told Self to make the rest of the team beat him. And they did.

I think it was the right approach by both coaches. Everyone has tried all year to "pack it in versus SJU" and make them play halfcourt by limiting turnovers and offensive rebounds.

It was a "split" for KU in that respect. SJU's defense was tremendous, sped them up, forced TOs and scored a bunch off those TOs. SJU also beat them up on the glass/offensive glass in the first half, but KU responded by owning the boards in the second half.

But Kansas executed the other piece. Most teams do not have the size, athleticism or defensive ability to do that. Kansas does.

If teams are giving you wide open looks, you have to take them, especially if you have capable shooters. They have inconsistent capable shooters. So I don't know what the alternative game plan is for the half court if a team is giving those types of guys wide open looks, beyond letting it fly and getting to the glass.

And yes I agree that played into the foul disparity as well in the second half. SJU didn't get a good whistle, at all, including several key critical calls as folks pointed out that would have drove us to therapy. But that wasn't the only reason for the disparity. How the game played out was a part too.
