Will the unspeakable happen Monday?

Two questions

Will the Pirates jump St John's in the AP Top 25?

Will the Pirates enter the AP Top 25?

Opinions

Yes to ranked
Too much national buzz regarding our turnaround.

I think St John's stays in above us due to Pitino factor, loss to UK, another very talented underperforming team, and most of these voters had St John's in top 5 pre season.

My answer, although I do not believe SHU is the better team yes and maybe.

Yes they will surpass SJU and maybe they'll be in the Top 25 depending on the results of today's games. I think right now they're hovering around 25-26.

Yes I think both will happen this week, though I'm a little uncomfortable about it. Is it real? Would we be any better off than SJU having played the same schedule?

Our teams also seem to lose an edge when they first break into the rankings... I'd really prefer not to see that dip in performance this week.

Excellent point and I agree.

But this team seems to rise to every occasion and their intensity has been incredible. My gut is being ranked, if it happens, will not affect them Tuesday.

I dont much care about SHU being ranked tomorrow, though I 100% think we deserve it.
While I understand Pitino's place as a college coach, its time to show us that he still has it.

Sju ignored the smelly part of his resume, like Xavier did, both surely embodying the Christian belief in foregiveness... And the perfect storm occurred for him - NIL and Repole abd NYC. (I lived in NYC during the Mullin years, they owned the winter.) He used Repoles money to poach Kadary (who didnt get better). Then he poached his other BE neighbor's best player. Hey, its legal.

He has assembled a roster others dreamed of. He scheduled befitting a top 5 school, which is probably where SJU was ranked. So he has this huge reputation, tons of money, lip prints of every NYC writer covering his keister. Beat somebody.

Haven’t checked but have any other teams ranked 15-25 lost this week besides SJU.

I don't think we deserve to be ranked yet. I know the record is stellar with 11 wins but until we actually beat a "Good" team the record is puffed up. We beat Villanova then Marquette and we should be ranked after those followed by beating Creighton. If we get ranked and lose in any of the next 3 we drop out fast. If we truly deserve to be a top 25 team we win the next 3. Also if Hines is out who knows how we will do?

NC State is close to Villanova, no?

From 28th to top 25 as road win in Providence impresses voters.
Providence is not good, that won’t do it.

Keep winning and attrition from the lower Top 25 will. That could happen as soon as tomorrow.

when I checked last week it seemed like most of the teams that would need to lose had cupcakes in their schedule other than auburn and no one is going to knock a loss to Perdue.

Didn’t seem like we’d be able to jump anyone to get in so I’m assuming we’ll be around 26-27 tomorrow.

Yes, we will be 25 and St John’s will fall to 5th or 6th RV as the voters make a stand against them.

They shouldn’t have been in last week. Just surviving off name recognition. At some point the losses matter regardless of competition.

net kenpom based on stats. top 25 is partly a bandwagon list and we are a darling right now, sitting on that bandwagon, which will vote us 23 to 25.

SJU's guards have not looked impressive to me any of the times I've seen them play. Jackson is a talented scorer in the fast break and as a slasher but can't shoot and can't direct an offense. Sanon and Sellers have some talent but are not special (despite what I'm sure they're getting paid in NIL) and don't put any pressure on the hoop, basically jump shooters.

Would anyone trade any of our starting guards/wings including Simpkins for either Sellers or Sanon? Simpkins and Staton-McCray are both preferable to either of them in my opinion. Williams maybe a draw but he's probably a better defensive player than either of them. I wouldn't trade Budd for Jackson, and I'm really not a fan of scoring guards who can't shoot.

The pre-season BE player of the year looked awful yesterday as well. Did not look big time at all. Quaintance outclassed him in every way and it wasn't close.

BE is just tough to watch this year outside of UCONN and dare I say SETON HALL

I'd say 23-35 and SJU bumped out as they should be

“It’s time for him (Pitino) to show us he still has it.” I was thinking the same thing. Frankly, in the 2nd half yesterday he just looked old on the sidelines. He’ll still be fine in the BE but that might not be saying much this year.
