The word "Legend" falls short in describing the man, and his life. Rest In Peace. Yogi will never be forgotten.

Please know that many if not all on this board, and virtually anyone connected with baseball or humor will greatly miss your father.

Having lost both my parents I can relate to your loss....but think of the great times you and your family shared together.

RIP Yogi: as you join Ruth, Gehrig , DiMaggio , Mantle....the list is endless.
And I feel it's not over yet!

I can't think of a time when I saw Yogi on TV that he didn't bring a smile to my face, just waiting for him to pass along another gem of wisdom. If the smiles one brings to others is a measure of a man, then Yogi lived a fantastic life and touched many hearts. Thoughts and prayers to you and your family Zap.

Rest in peace, Yogi. You were a very special man.

As a youth I knew of Yogi only as a Mets coach and manager, not of his great career with the Yankees, and was a huge fan of him. The only time I've bought tickets to a Yankee game was for Yogi Berra day in 1999.

As one who struggled for a different way to congratulate Yogi on his birthday every May 12,I am deeply saddened that the task will no longer be necessary.

An American legend has passed. His like will not be seen again. An era has passed with him.

Zap,my thoughts are with you and your family.

Despite his worrisome quote,I'm confident that he wound up in the right place.

Yogi was one of the ALL TIME greatest players, if you really look deep into his stats they are pretty amazing. The one that stands out the most to me besides his 10 rings is in 1950 he had 597 AB's and only struck out 12 times! That is crazy!

I know he was a Yankee but being that I always was a Mets fan and in 1973 as an 11 year old, baseball was THE SPORT, I'll never forget him as the Mets manager. RIP to one of the last American Heroes!

"Always go to other people's funerals, otherwise they won't come to yours."

I'm sure getting people to your funeral will be no problem, Yogi, unless no one goes because it's too crowded.

My deepest sympathies, Zap.

RIP, Yogi, and condolences to the whole family. From the outside, his was a life to be celebrated. An American legend for sure.

Maybe he is suiting up right now to play a game in Iowa with Shoeless Joe and the rest of those guys - except Ty Cobb!
