Okay - I want to support our coach but there are a couple of things that are really rubbing me the wrong way lately.

1. I always complimented Rhule’s conviction for his process and taking immediate ownership of the team.
— Now he’s telling everyone how big of a mess he had to clean up and puts blame on previous staff three years in???

2. Interviewer lobs a softball “what do you tell recruits to get them sold on Nebraska?”
—City, fans, facilities bla bla bla. Then goes on to say that we are playing 6 rated teams next year and coming to Nebraska you have a chance to play the best! Put some stuff on top tape against the best. Hey - I gotta a wild idea - why don’t you tell them we are going to be the best?? Get to play the best? What in the world?

3. Goes on to talk about the foxhole and he wants people that want to be here. The says he “wants” to be here while pounding the table. Could not be more hypocritical to take that approach after you flirt with other schools… supposedly and use that as leverage for the extension and buyout. Is that what “wanting to be here” looks like?

4. All these Coordinators and assistants turning over. Not aware of a program that has had 3 DC’s in 3 years, 2 OC’s and 3 Special teams. No good looks on this one at all.

5. Bottom line - he tried to build a team from youngsters when the winning formula has been full grown men in the portal. He acknowledges that at least in the interview.

I want to believe … we need a miracle next year with our schedule. Rhule is going to feel some boo birds next year if this thing doesn’t look way different.

I’m not holding the extension against him. That’s his agent’s job and who’s going to turn down more money?
The rest? He needs to keep his mouth shut and do a better job.

I don't hold it against anyone for making whatever $$$$ they can.

However, it's been about 10 minutes since he leveraged the Penn State opening into an extension.

Although it's his right to leverage that situation however he wants, he should shut his piehole altogether about how he wants to be here / how loyal he is to the program.

His actions speak much louder than those words, and his loud insistence that his loyalty is to Nebraska is disengenuous.

The man can talk some sh$t.
Too bad it is just that … talk.
The man is a fraud.
Honestly, while he is a freakin loser and will never be relevant… what does that say about our AD and board ?
It means they truly don’t give a **** about winning at football. So I don’t either.
I’ll adopt Indiana as my team from now on. They actually want to win. So do SEC schools.

Solich… fired… Pelini fired…
Riley… won 9 games and a bowl first two years but three games into third year… AD fired so that he could be fired
Frost… effing loser so after two years.. EXTENSION
Rhule… Mediocre loser blown out by Minnesota year three…. EXTENDED

I see the pattern.. yeah, no thanks

He left Temple before doing anything, he left Baylor before doing anything, he was forced out of Carolina mid-season and locked out of the facility, he will be fired next year and locked out of the facility. He doesn't care. Some people are suited for that job, and fortunately for him he gets to coach in an era where coaches are fired in disgrace by the dozens every year and they get to walk away with millions. If he can live with himself good for him, even if bad for us.

It’s sad that the only thing keeping him in Lincoln is money. Take a step back and look at the big picture here. We have watched guys like Mike Eckler and Tony White leave the program while Rhule stays.

Why Is Rhule still here? Money. If all three men cost the same amount of money to the school for them to leave… Rhule would likely be the first guy out the door. But we are trapped and worse yet he is trapped in a place I don’t believe he enjoys anymore (speculation.)

It’s a tough situation for both parties. I personally feel that if a viable exit presented itself, both parties would take it.

I’m not sure he had anything to do with it other than accepting the extension. I’m inclined to believe that it was all his agent recognizing an opportunity and capitalizing on it.

Good point on Rhule being “trapped” here and not really wanting to be here. I think he is really starting to feel the heat. I think he is starting to feel the fans turning against him. And he knows he doesn’t have the athletes to turn this around next year. His portal class was decent but only that. It is not a portal class that screams out “turnaround coming soon!”

His public comments are getting increasingly defensive and edgy. But who will hire him at a salary commensurate with what we are paying? At this point he would be looking at a very low level school and they won’t pay him what we are.

But what the heck? We have given him tens of millions. And for what? A lifetime’s worth of spit.

I wonder if Baylor would want to take him back.

I'm going with the under. Think he has to get to at least 8 wins next year. Personally don't see 8. With the schedule coming up, 6 would be a miracle. To get 8 he'd have to do something he's shown he's incapable of, beat ranked teams.

Guessing if he doesn't reach at least 8, he'll be run out of town. If the current AD won't pull the trigger then he needs to go too and the next AD can "clean up the mess" as Ruhle would say.

I am not defending him but am trying to get an understanding, is there solid proof that he was “flirting with other programs) ?

Will the University really want to pay him $70M to go away after next year?

I don’t think he gets fired even if he wins 4-5

Rhules own words in a normal press conference in the week of the Minnesota game. All but ejaculating all over the podium about how great Penn State is and how much he loves the place when asked about the head coaching vacancy. Plus whatever was going on behind the scenes that yogurt somehow felt compelled to extend rhule.

When you are making a hundred million dollars to be the head coach at Nebraska, at least act like you take the job seriously and that its your top priority.

Yeah only a fool would say something other than : I am the coach of this team here right now and all of my focus is in this. We have a big game to get ready for. Next question.

For $80 mil - he has two more years unless big $$$ boosters will pay it.
Depends how he loses games if the losses are like Minnesota pedo st Iowa and Utah they will find the money, say he goes 6-6 with all the losses are 10 points and the team really shows big improvement he gets another year

If (okay, when) Rhule is canned, he gets 90% of his remaining contract, rather than the full amount.

It’s almost like his agent threw Alberts and then Dannen a bone, just to make the contract slightly less embarrassing.
