Was quite a talented song writer. Didn't really appreciate him until I came across his broadcasts on SiriusXM where he gave the back stories for many famous hits and who sang them.

10 of his best songs... as per a list I found on-line from (10 to 1)
-Happy Birthday Sweet sixteen
- Oh Carol
- The Hungry Years
- Lonely Night (Angel Face)..... Captain & Tenille made it a hit
- Solitaire..... covered by many - a Carpenters, mong others
- Calender Girl
-Love will keep us Together -.... another Captain and Tenille hit
- Breaking Up is Hard to Do,,,, Hit the top of the charts in 1962 AND when recorded a second time in 1975
-Laughter in the Rain - this one popular around the time I got Married in 1975....... brings happy times to mind...

His daughter had a marvelous voice but didn't pursue a career like her dad.
Had a great career.
May he RIP.

Same here. Wasn't much of a fan back then. But hearing his songs later in my life brought me back to my youth.

May he rest in peace.
