Probably because he was denied access.

probably insufficient credentials, screw him, I'd tape that one up in the locker room if I were Sha.

That was the mantra last year, too. Not sure how much I believe in that motivational stuff, especially these days. Most importantly is that, hopefully, Sha has grown as a coach/leader after last year's experience. Continues to have my faith and support.

ON the other hand his thoughts on SHU might be spot on. Did Sha move the needle at all to move this team out of last place? Can we compete at a higher level than last year? Have any of the teams lost ground to us?

I expect the BE Coaches poll will have us picked last. Be interesting where other polls might pick us too.

Rothstein is very knowledge re college BB. But he's human too and I wonder how much Holloway's snub of him last season when he wanted to visit affected this profile? Other than a last place finish there is no mention of any SHU player in his projections.

Hey, I believe we will struggle again this coming season but I would take issue with Rothstein's complete snub of the Pirates.

I too have Seton Hall in the bottom half of the conference but after the top 4, it's pretty weak. Could finish anywhere from 7th to 11th.

If you look at how 247 ranked us in our transfer portal pickups and what was left from last years awful team, and the one ship we gave out the only way Rothstein could go is the way he wrote it. I know there is often lots of optimism and pessimism on this forum. I have been guilty of both at times. However the reality is did Sha do enough to get better results. Every team in the BE thinks they are better and possibly every team did get a bit better. We would have to take some major steps to win more than 2 games in the BE. I am not sure what this roster can do at this point. It's a big mystery. I really can't see any expert prognosticators picking SHU higher than last place. We can wish it all we want but on paper at the moment it is where they are at until action starts and they prove otherwise.

I agree with this. We may have not gotten a lot better, but a weaker BE gets us more competitive right off the bat,

Uconn & St Johns are clearly the cream at the top.

Creighton and Marquette have both lost the core of their top players of the last 3 years. Marquette kept their continuity and will be solid with little star power. Cray brought in talent but will they mesh.

Provy may be 5 but the roster doesn't look all that great.

After that who knows. Nova, George, Butler, Depaul, X all have so many new players. We should be competitive with all of them. Whatever one of these teams comes together chemistry wise with all of these new parts could finish 6th or maybe higher.

How knowledgeable is he really? He covers dozens and dozens of teams. Do we really think he has special insight?

Certainly don’t disagree with the prediction but let’s see what happens on the court. IMO we improved at the point and somewhat at center and 3 point shooting. But every other team feels like they have improved also.

Just give him a little access and somehow his predictions seem to get a whole lot better. He's an empty suit but he gets press and coverage and usually takes the high road. Not a hard press contact to manage but managing to get any press seems to be a significant challenge for us due to our approach.

It's laughable to have Seton Hall anywhere but last. Prove that you aren't. Unfortunately, this coach doesn't have what it takes to do so.

We're last until we prove we're not.
That sounds right to me. I also ignore all of the pre-season predictions...now more than ever with all the dramatically changed rosters each year. The results will be what they will be, regardless of what any of the pundits predict.

I don't think Carino or Zags will give a much different opinion. Nor the BE coaches when they get polled.

Which is why Rothstein has us last. He might be correct, but he didn’t do any independent thinking to come to that conclusion. He didn’t even realize tubek is off the team.

Maybe its the optimist in me, but I don't see us being last again. Also, I don't see Carino being that explicit either for reasons that have nothing to do with actual objective analysis.

who was the stud?

you must have hated willard then for missing the dance his first 3 years btw the team he inherited was better. thoughts on that?
I assume you’re playing dumb with the stud question. I’ll pass on that.

Also a foolish comment re: Willard’s early years here.

Not engaging. Nice try though!

somewhat Agree , But I'm sure that is still Sha's junkyard underdog mantra. Certainly didn't work last year but he did in fact assemble a team of dredges. Worked the year before. No competitor whether in business or sports wants to be told they stink and most would strive to prove one wrong simply from a pride standpoint. As long as they're not solely interested in their NILpaycheck .
