They could not put any pressure or stop the run.
I could live with them kicking a mid to long FG to win but not TD.
This team will not be able to beat elite teams with a weak Dline.

They were gassed. Not a lot of depth due to injuries. However, Hogen and Wilkins seemed to play well tonight.

They played well, but did not get much help from the DBs. That's where the game was lost. Although, that unit has improved from the fiasco that decimated them earlier this year. They were on the receivers instead of looking like stationary pins.

Imagine how good the D-line would be if Hamilton were playing and Turay was 100%. As it is a number of new guys have contributed. Tonight Bateky and Joseph had their moments.

I won't lament the injuries because everyone has them. MSU has a bunch of injuries too. Actually it feels like lots of teams have had key injuries this year, kinda feels more than normal but that's just anecdotal watching the college shows and reading the news.

But speaking of elite teams well who's left that's really elite? I'd say Michigan is the best B10 team to date and OSU is next but they've been up and down. Everyone else has been unimpressive and if anything yesterday's game should make you feel better about the rest of the games except those two.

Did you see how Nebraska lost yesterday against Wisconsin? They're finding new ways to lose at the end of the game. I mentioned it in another thread. Wisconsin was trailing 21-20. Wisconsin missed a 38yd FG off the upright with about 1:26 left but 3 timeouts (see why it's good to be judicious using them), Nebraska punts and Wisconsin drives down the field for 40 some yd FG and again off the upright but this time it goes in with a couple secs left. Nebraska doesn't do much on the ensuing kickoff.

Could we get blown out? Sure it's always possibl but I thought yesterday's game should have brightened your outlook for the remaining games except Michigan/OSU. I thought the DL played more physically yesterday than we have been and the blitzing was great to see. Can we keep it up? Well we'll find out.

Did anyone see Ford yesterday? Is there a reason why the coaches aren't giving the kid a chance to play?

As I said to my friend yesterday - the pass rush was the key defensively for us. Our secondary is what it is unfortuantley and if any QB has time they will pick us apart. Thought D did it's job for the most part. And agree with others they were gassed at the end - it happens.

MSU's D line was beaten up on our last drive, BTN announcers were saying when D linemen dive towards the running back, compared to going after them, shows how tired they were.

Can't beat up on the DBs too much. 2 RS-Fr, a Frosh and a first year safety starting and very little depth. Kids played damn well considering that they are carrying heavy loads on their young shoulders because their ex-teammates decided the path in life was to be criminal or stupid (your pick). While they played tough, the rough moments are still to come with Indiana, Michigan and Ohio St. No weeks off.
