RU has a star power hitter in Katie Wingert , Wingert was 2-for-3 with a homer, a double, a run and two RBIs.. Wingert LEADS the conference with 15 Home Runs ! Wingert is a Freshman from Carlisle , Pa (where Jim Thorpe went to college !)

The top 12 teams make the Big10 Softball Tournament. The top 4 get first round byes. The Tournament will be May 9-12 in Indiana. Games usually televised on regular BTN TV. Winner gets an auto invite to the NCAA Tournament, a 64 team tournament with 32 Auto invites and 32 At Larges picked. Last year 5 Big 10 softball teams played in the Tournament, Minn the auto invite being the Big10 champ, plus NW, Michigan, Ohio St, and Wisconsin. While winning the Tournament would be great, I think with a good finish RU has a shot at an at large. They currently are (22-19, 6-8).

What's great about all of this is that our Olympic sports have been doing this with essentially one hand behind their backs. Dont underestimate how much of a disadvantage RU is at with such a smaller conference payout compared to the other schools. Cant wait to see where we are with an even share.

RU currently alone in 7th place w a 6-8 conference record. They play again tomorrow. Top 12 teams make the Big10 Tournament, top 4 w first round byes.
