Rutgers Baseball has a (5) game winning streak and 5-4 record in Conference (tied for sixth place).
It looks like our baseball team is starting to come together....Time to see a home game?

Do you think Rutgers will make the Big Ten Baseball Tournament this year?

I wouldn’t get too excited just yet. Great job taking care of last place MSU. The next two weekends will position us for the home stretch. Rutkowski has been great all year and Murray has pitched well in B1G play. Hopefully they finish strong

I’m not sure how I feel...on one hand we don’t have Maryland, Minny, or Nebraska, 3 of the 5 teams ahead of us, which gives us a GREAT shot at post-season okay, but on the other hand nobody wants JL back next season.
Any chance JL may be a decent coach. The data (wins/losses; recruiting classes; managing roster) so far is not showing it, but hey, thought I'd ask.

No one wants to chase the coach out. But we need to see progress. Better results, post season play, more ambitious recruiting outside NJ and from the JUCO ranks, and players moving on into the professional ranks.

Yeah RU rallying for a B1G Tourney spot likely gives Litterio one more year. Gotta go with the Rachel Phelps method of rooting to lose in both baseball and womens lax so Hobbs can axe dead coaching weight in both sports.

Well he wasn't a decent coach at Wagner. He had one winning season in 12 years and here at Rutgers he hasn't been a decent coach having one winning season in the AAC. So I would say with a 360-519-3 overall record he's not a decent coach. And actually one has to wonder why the hell was he even hired in the 1st place?

The team played very good this weekend but Michigan State is winless in the BIG. We need to beat Hofstra tomorrow and defeat Purdue this weekend. We are now 13-19 after being 8-19. I really hope we can beat Hofstra and sweep Purdue to get to 17-19. That would be great if we could pull it off. On 4/23 we play Columbia and 4/24 Iona. I know we must play one game at a time but if we could ever get to 19-19 we would really be talking. That would get us to be very exciting. I enjoy going to the games and attended Friday & Sunday against Michigan State and I hope to see us play at least two of the games against Purdue this weekend. GO RU. As for coach Joe, I hate to see anyone lose their job. I sat near his wife and I believe his 3 children at the game on Sunday at the family seemed really nice and supporting their dad. I hope by some chance he can turn this around.

He seems like a really nice guy. Also hate to see anyone lose his or her job. He needs to RUN aggressively & unpredictably. But he doesn't know how to do it.

Joe MAY be lucking out this season, as we DO NOT face 3 of the current top 6 in league standings (Nebraska(1), Minnny (5), Twerps (5)) but still face Mich(2), IU (3), NW (6), after PU, so we’ll see. I’m not putting much stick into a sweep of MSU 8-25(0-8), sorry.

Very happy for our kids, they’re out there busting their asses and love to see them win games, but there is a looong way to go here with 20 games left (including 5 conference series).

Litterio is benefiting from a pretty light B1G slate this year as well as what I think is a down year for the conference. Cundari seems to finally be making his impact with the pitchers and the bats are waking up.

Regardless Litterio has never been successful anywhere he's been and should've never been hired here in the first place. A postseason appearance would be nice, but I think it would make matters worse for the future of this program. He just isn't the answer

Not saying Litterio is a good coach but whoever our coach is going forward will face an uphill climb given our embarrassment of a home "ballpark" especially compared to other Big Ten ballparks

The breadth of our recruiting needs to pick up. The days of competing with a roster that looks like one from the NJAC teams will not cut it in the Big Ten. Not sure the current staff has the exposure and out-of-the-area connections to recruit in the fashion necessary to compete for Big Ten championships.

That's gotta be the next "project" for the athletic department to get moving on. Hopefully Mr. Frazier will be ready to have a ballpark named after himself.

Hofstra got a couple of unearned runs and five total in the top of the sixth. In the bottom of the sixth, RU had bases-loaded with no outs, but did not score. Over the past weekend they also had an inning where they had bases-loaded with none out and did not score.

It looks like Bellissimo was cruising through the first five innings and when they replaced him with the sixth they got knocked around a little bit.

Nuts, I don't know what kind of physical shape your Dad is in,but take him to as many events as you can and he is able. My Dad passed on and it is terrible without him around. I still remember the last game we went to--the last Rutgers at Temple football game.

Tough day for Serruto — in the sixth he grounded into a double play to help them get out of the bases-loaded and no outs situation. In the eighth with runners on first and second and one out he grounded into a double play again.

They should have left Bellissimo in, he was pitching well, held Hofstra to 1 run over 5 innings, then he is lifted even though he only threw 65 pitches. Next guy in let's in 3 runs immediately and only got 1 out. That was all she wrote. Good news is Sclafani is back.At this point in the season the mid week games are meaningless since Ru will need to concentrate on Conference games to get a Big10 Tournament spot, and an NCAA at large was NEVER a thought.

For the umptienth time, we don't RUN & make something happen.
It was actually bases-loaded and nobody out so they couldn’t run — the next hitter Reached on a fielders choice and forced a runner at home and the last hitter hit into a double play – – no opportunity to run.

Two innings later, runners were at first and second with one out and the same batter came up. The runners were not moving and he hit into an inning ending double play again.

My point. He doesn't RUN. No pressure on the pitcher, catcher, fielders. They wait for a hit. And they don't have a particularly good hitting club.
