Interesting
I am checking that one out
Have you tried any of those recommended in this thread ?
Thanks Irish
Michter’s, Rittenhouse, Woodford and a couple of the Midwinters. I’m originally from Alberta so I need to get to work trying that one….

Rittenhouse is my favorite from the list.

Peerless has amazing single barrels in their showroom - I think you can order them online. Those are my favorite ryes, they pick outliers and they usually have distinctive flavor profiles. (Mai Tai Rye - pineapple and mint jump out for example.)

It's like finding a unicorn .. unless you can make it out to Utah.

This spirit can be purchased at High West General Store in Old Town Park City and at High West Distillery on Blue Sky Ranch in Wanship, Utah, for $99.99 per bottle.

Positive reviews on Angels Envy Finished Rye are justified, but too pricey IMO

Definitely a sweeter pallet…smooth too

I'm a big fan of the Rare Breed Rye. The one that really surprised me was the Angel's Envy. Didn't care much for the bourbon, but the rye has some really complex flavors going on. I really enjoy it yet I can share with friends who are not big whiskey drinkers and it's very approachable.

Michter's was my first rye...good stuff. I also like the EH Taylor High Rye, but good luck finding that around here.

MWND is very tasty, but it's unobtainium here. I heard they jacked up the price like 50% this year too.

Old Overholt 114 Proof, Rittenhouse Bottled in Bond, and George Dickel are all outstanding, readily available, and affordable Ryes ($25-30)

The Wild Turkey Rare Breed is also fantastic, but about double the price of the aforementioned.
Another affordable, very good choice is Old Forester 100 proof rye.

For quality, price and most-people-like-it flavor
Rittenhouse BiB is hard to beat.
My wife just got me a bottle of this for Valentine’s Day but it was a special cask labeled and bottled for Canal’s Liquor Store in New Jersey. They claim from their tasting that it is spicier and more robust than the normal BIB version. It’s also about $5 more expensive LOL. Just wondering if anyone else had anyone else had ever tasted it or any similar special cask strength Rittenhouse. Thanks

I just called Total Wine about those Rittenhouse special editions.
No luck.
This has become one of my unicorns
Looking forward to finding this one in Tallahassee or someplace in N Florida or S Georgia.
No luck so far.

Apparently it’s like Rittenhouse’s older brother- due to higher proof and longer aging. Both are really Maryland style ryes even though Rittenhouse claims to be a Pennsylvania style and takes its name from the famous square located in Philadelphia. It’s 51% rye (as opposed to 95% on many ryes) and has a lot of corn in the mash bill more similar to a Maryland style where corn was more prevalent, thus the sweeter taste. Both are very well regarded.

I started out with the bourbons and now I'm into the ryes.
Finding and enjoying really good affordable rye and bourbon whiskies has become a bit more than a hobby with me.
I've read a lot of reviews and opinions, had some fun tastings, and a few disappointments.
The collection is growing.
I feel like a mad scientist with my private blendings.
Now I just have to find a way to turn my avocation into some real $$$

Tried my bottle of Rittenhouse BIB special cask tonight and enjoyed it neat. It wasn’t as sweet or bourbon like as I was expecting and had a nice balance of flavor of fruit and spice with just a little heat and smoke in the aftertaste. Next time I’ll add one ice cube which is how I usually enjoy my bourbons, or Irish whisky.

Finally found a bottle !
About $60 in Tallahassee
It's allocated here
VERY good - just about perfect in fact
Gotta say this is my new favorite rye
Surprisingly mellow, balanced and well rounded for 110 proof
Superior character, complexity, nose and flavor
Mash bill - 51% Rye, 39% Corn, 10% Malted Barley
6 years old
Won a Whiskey of the Year award recently

I am enjoying the reviews found here
Not just scotch
Many intelligent and some not-so-intelligent reviews on bourbons, ryes etc.
The writer(s) are straightforward with their opinions
Which I appreciate
