By the time that schedule rolls around I’ll be too old to drive, either way I’ll be a happy camper if RU ever gets back to being ranked in the top 20 again , I just don’t see that happening with GS’s offensive game day philosophy .

Yes I was , & at that time just hearing him talking was very inspiring, if I had still been playing football at that time I would have ran through a brick wall for him , I was also at the Louisville game with a badly herniated disc, actually had tears in my eyes driving home being so happy for the RU program & it’s players , but the problem is times and the game of football has changed but GS’s offensive philosophy has not , it’s just too predictable when it doesn’t have to be.

Not making a prediction but USC led by Lincoln Riley is much easier than PSU, Ohio State or Michigan.
I agree. Much more upset prone . PSU OSU AND Mich have been near perfect in conference for the last 4 years except for losing to each other.
USC and UCLA are more like Wisconsin but not quite Iowa, not in terms of style, but overall "beatability." But UW is right up there with top tier B1G teams.
It hasn’t changed the timeline because we don’t have access to the best portal players due to lack of support. We can land under the radar kids who can assist on defense. We haven’t been able to use the portal to similarly boost the offense, though Jackson has at least provided us something.

When the 3 best teams left our division Greggie got better, big deal he had zero wins against them. If anyone thinks he will seek a QB, Offensive lineman, and a wide receiver with

BTW- GS 1.0 from 05-09 pretty much around 30 pts per game. I believe we saw Teel and Savage air it out a time or two as well.

All of them except UCLA lose their qbs. Nix, Penix and Williams are gone but the OCs or HCs of those teams have track records of doing well with multiple qbs in their careers so we’ll see.

one thing is definitely NOT doing is going deep right after a TO. He used to do this often, hasn't done it once this year.
Can we stop making believe that every transfer comes with a 6 figure price tag. You guys make it like every school is throwing around millions of dollars.
I’ve said similar in the past and not only that but the numbers out on the public arena aren’t always trustworthy. I’ve posted articles about that too.
Are there big deals and big money to be had, for sure but not all if not most are that.
One example I gave was Penix to UW, he went there for DeBoer not NIL. He wasn’t even planning on coming back this year because he knew he was injury prone but changed his mind and came back and made that decision before he signed some deals with adidas and some others. I posted an article on that too.
Why would you leave now, after finally becoming respectable again for the first time since 2014 instead of having left well before then? Makes zero sense to me.
True if we are not competing against OSU, Mich or PSU. PSU can’t beat OSU and Mich with all their star players.
ETA we also need to fend off those teams poaching our best players.

In last week's press conference Schiano stated that the offense run today may not be the same as you run in the future. He basically stated that we don't have the personnel to go balls to the wall, "know who you are". And right now we are a ball control defensive team. Eat the clock, limit the turnovers, control the line. In order to win this team has to play perfect ball and can't over come mistakes. Once we have more depth and skilled position players then you can open it up and start slinging it around.
I'm thinking "Dixon" who has been a 5* type player for us- did not have a huge price tag.
This is where our staff has to be the best at- find these type of guys. We are going bowling this year and we should expect the same next year- we actually have a pretty good class coming in and we still have a number of good players returning. We have kids developing that can either start or being good depth- but we need to just keep building this way.
NIL is it's own animal- without it- my expectations wit some winning seasons in the B1G was higher. Or, if NIL, was what it should be and not fans and boosters just paying kids.
I do think we could be an Iowa type program and if NY/NJ ever sees a decade of that type of success, we may even be able to play full fledge into the NIL game too.
