Jordan Pagano took to Twitter this evening to announce that he will be granted a sixth year of eligibility.

Pagano, who transferred from Penn State after his freshman season, has quietly put together a solid career, despite bouncing around weight classes.

Pagano has earned 59 victories over the course of his collegiate wrestling career, and put together his best season in 2017, where he qualified for the NCAA tournament.

The following season, Pagano was forced to miss the 2018 post season due to injury. This allowed Pagano to apply for a sixth year of eligibility.

Pagano will be a candidate for the 184-lb starting spot, replacing 2019 graduate Nick Gravina. Pagano is the only returning 184-lber on the roster with any starting experience. Billy Janzer, a redshirt-freshman, will most likely be Pagano’s biggest threat to the spot for the 2019-20 season.

Now all he has to do is get over his Hot and Cold wrestling and he'll be a huge contributor to the team

I hope Jordan goes 197 to potentially sure up the top of the lineup and so that we can see Janzer at 184. Have high hopes for him.

Man, I have to give a kid a lot of credit for sticking with the grind for a sixth year. It's not like wrestlers are cruising through grad school of a full ride. I guess if you love the wrestling room and have a personal goal (A-A?) left to accomplish, then you don't want to leave. I loved my four years in New Brunswick, but I was ready to move on and up at age 22.

Based on his current weight, is it possible that he would be looking to challenge for the 197 weight class? Lex, can you follow up on that?

Yeah I don’t see Pagano being big enough for 197. Just speculating but I don’t see it. I think he’ll have to battle with Billy at 184 - should be pretty even. I’m also in the crowd that hasn’t given up on Correnti yet, though I know many here have.

Jordan did not do any wrestling with Janzer due to injury which may be settled next year. He is one terrific young man and I contributed on his dance marathon. Great representative for RU.

Please try to make it to Knight Games. It will be a great night and you don’t need to gamble or play cards to come.
