Thankfully they caught the guy. A bystander had no problem turning him in. Omar Mateen's employer on the other hand, well you can't just turn in a cray moooslim because that's racist.

Tell you what, get the police report on both this guy and Omar Mateen when they are both completed....would love a comparison if you are attempting to equate the two events.

i'm not equating the two events. just stating that there are people who want to murder people not associated with being muslim.

we have over 30k gun related deaths in this country per year. the number of deaths related to terroism in this country is in the 10s. how many billions of dollars do you suggest we put towards stopping the deaths of 10-20 americans per year?

They have largely curtailed mass shootings and, to a lesser extent, gun violence with their response in a country that is about as identical to the U.S. as you can find for a comparable.
Far from identical. Completely surrounded by water with no open land borders that their government has no interest in controlling.

This is such a false equivalency. The vast majority of the 10K number that you quote are targeted homicides. That is, criminal knows victim and wants to kill them. While tragic, the gun isn't really the problem, it's the person.
Yep, this guy wasn't targeting gays. It was mistaken identity.

You are all over the map on this one, care to clerify? There was at least 50 killed just yesterday. No I am not one wanting money thrown at the problem. That is the last thing that should be done. (Too much greed and thievery from those that get it.)

Nope. The LGBT community are about to gear up and get armed. They have already mobilized a tank.

It's over. The LGBT community will do America's dirty work by killing off every Muslim living in America
Nice phallic symbol to boot. Just missing the Speedos.

Maybe humans need to belong in a zoo. The most irresponsible species on the planet. Blaming everything underneath the sun for their problems. Blaming gun, blame this, blame that. Absolutely ridiculous. Still doesn't stop the original problem. The human. The human is the problem. But like 90% of America who have agnosia to their own insight, humans will never take the responsibility for anything they do. Instead pass the buck on. That's what we do.

A fellow misanthrope?

Either way, this is probably the most important post you'll find in this thread.

A related question: what exactly would it take to have the focus shift to radical Islam? As in "holy ****, these psychos really are trying to kill us all"?

Monthly attacks like this? Weekly? Less frequent attacks but higher death counts? What would it take for Obama to get there, or am I just missing the point completely that it is indeed never going to occur?

I'm just curious what you mean by having the focus shifting to radical Islam? Since 9/11 we have bombed 7 predominately Muslim countries, and invaded and occupied two of them. We have sent the most powerful military in the history of the world to pound the hell out of Islamic Extremist for the past 15 years. And setting aside the ridiculousness of politics, this also means that the best and brightest military minds in our nation have been focused on this for that amount of time as well. As a result, millions of Muslims are dead and several countries are in shambles. So. what steps are beyond that. What stronger message is going to be sent? I suppose we could go bring in biological, chemical or nuclear weapons. Would that be a deterrent that would make a terrorist not attack a night club?

I'm just curious as to what the next steps are that would signify that we have actually 'focused' on this problem.

Well, I say that because people keep suggesting that we should all be carrying guns! Going back to the days of the Wild West is regressive - sorry, that's just the truth. our government messed this up a long time ago due to poor policies and decisions in the Middle East and we are seeing the results of that now.
That is not the truth

Wiping ISIS off the face of the earth would be a step.

Will some of you learn what semi-auto vs full auto is? And what a real assault rifle is. Thank you You won't look as dumb.
It's never going to happen, man. Allowing that much fact to replace an idealism of ignorance that provides such a huge stump for a false talking point is detrimental to the movement.

Does every situation have to be right or left?

Can we not acknowledge there's a lot of moving parts to "blame" for this **** and pointing fingers and pulling out the same BS arguments over and over again isn't helping? "Ban guns!!" "MOAR guns!!" "Kill all the Muslims" "Be nicer to the Muslims" and so on forever.

It's kind of sad we can't even discuss a national tragedy without getting all wing nutty.

I'm not religious either. I couldn't imagine killing or dying in the name of religion. Dumb AF if you ask me.

Dying for a noble belief and cause is one thing. That's not what Islam is doing. They are killing for a political ideology mascaraing as a religion. That's what Islam is. They want to have full control over women for sex, children for their war, and the people for power. Sharia law is an ideology that most Muslims actually agree with in one form or another. And if you support it, you are nothing close to peaceful.

Actually if you read the article it's saying he may not have even been there to harm anyone.

The original tweet sent out from the cops was miscommunicated apparently.

Far from identical. Completely surrounded by water with no open land borders that their government has no interest in controlling.

They have nothing to point to as an example so they just use apples to oranges comparisons.

It's been explained to them time and time again. The U.S. is 350 million people. We already have 300 million guns in the U.S. That can't be taken. We are a huge country where people sometimes don't live within an hour of a police department. We have porous borders that line Mexico, an incredible dangerous country with cartels that basically own the northern regions.

Gun control morons.

There's nothing you can do with them.

I'd vote for a gay man over Hilary. Might paint some rooms in the white house pink, but I bet he'd be more aggressive vs. Isis and terrorists than her.
Believe it or not, she is considered more hawkish than The Donald. A nasty, smelly stench in either direction if you ask me.

But we did train him. The whole Al-Queda network was a CIA creation.

But that's no what started the problem. The whole Islamic revolution is a build up from the 50s.
Islam has been at war with all comers in the name of Mohammad since, AT LEAST, the 7th century. Listen to Col. Allen West.
