The most devout Christians I know are my Uncle Jim and the minister that my cousin married. They do not 'approve' of gay people (and we have had my arguments about the topic) but they are both incapable of hate. It just isn't something that they can process. Maybe they are the exception to the rule but if everyone could have the mindset that they have this world would be so much better.

so Democrats don't say the right words together but Donald Trump gets a pass for everything he says or has said.

If we're ever going to win this we need the more advanced Muslims to win this war. The US can't do it, it just creates even more terrorists. So go ahead and alienate the entire Muslim population by banning them and putting them into camps(something Trump has shown support for!); I'm sure they're more than willing to help. If you think the US just lets any Muslim into the country now without knowing who they are will just believe anything.

After 9/11 this country has had very few attacks compared to the rest of the world. More reporting on it for sure, but I bet if you compare the numbers, we're near the bottom. Access to weapons is a much bigger problem. It is just way too easy for people to get guns these days. I'm sure continuing to do nothing will improve the problem.

I do find it ironic that the two groups who love killings gays are Islamic Extremists and the conservative right wing.

I must have missed the part of my post where I excused Trump for his comments. And I must have missed where conservative right wingers opened fire on gay folks.

You want to debate my comment fine let's go. You want to go off on tangents and pretend I said things I never said nor inferred then STFU.

I want the good Muslims of the world and there are many. Muhammad Ali etc..
The people who do believe in the Koran and the teachings that are not terrorists need to get a hold of this and step out, concerted effort overseas of turning these people over to authorities, weeding out these teachings.

It cannot be done by the West killing off all the militants, it has to be done by Muslims themselves who must stand up to these ******** radical Islamic jihadists.
They have to stand up and get this out.
The Mosques that are allowing these bastards in, teaching them.

Most Muslims are like anyone else, they want safety for kids etc.. Ramadan is supposedly a peaceful journey.
And Islam is supposedly a peaceful religion

Well in his defense ISIS wasn't as known worldwide until Obama and Hiliary.

Bottom line is bring our boys home and secure our country. Then maybe these people will not hate us so much for always being involved in their country.

We don't like them f'n with ours so leave them alone!
Yea and if Isreal just gives the Arabs land for a country they will leave Isreal alone too huh. Oh wait

Mass shootings w/ assault rifles claim a hundred or so people per year. Hand guns claim 10K per year.
Democrats: Get rid of assault rifles!!!!!

It's a bad joke how stupid you guys are.

This is such a false equivalency. The vast majority of the 10K number that you quote are targeted homicides. That is, criminal knows victim and wants to kill them. While tragic, the gun isn't really the problem, it's the person.

In the case of these mass shootings, the person is obviously still the main issue, but an assault rifle allows them to compound the number of victims. If the Orlando shooter uses a typical handgun, maybe he's not able to kill as many people. Maybe more people escape.

The stupidity comes in that some people are so sure that they're right that they aren't even willing to discuss the issues at hand. That's true stupidity. It's a gray issue and people on both sides of the aisle see only black and white. This thread is proof positive.

Just read some of these posts and melodramatic crap from a wide swath of Dem mouthpieces on twitter and it is easy to see why no gun owners are willing to be discuss "common sense" reform. Insufferable.

I would also be supportive of background checks that check to see if you are a wingnut or terrorist

Where were all the armed Americans we heard from after the Paris shooting that said they would stop something like this in US?

I do not care for Trump. On this issue he is 100 percent spot on. You do not let people into your country that are coming to destroy you.

I hope he hangs this around Hillary's neck.

BTW, Trump is a lefty to me.

I'm a registered Republican who typically votes that way, so if you're implying that I'm some kind of Democrat, well, you're a big part of the problem.

Hilarious that people still think "their" side doesn't do the exact same thing as the other when it comes to politics.
Again, false. And the Sypher affair humbled Rick too, right?

There is no comparison. I have seen hundreds of gun law tweets from writers and pols today and nothing similar from Reps.

Is your car capable of going faster than the posted speed limit? If so, you don't need it; therefore it should be banned. Wanna talk about how many more fatalities are a result of motor vehicle accidents stemming from excess speed than gun violence?
I'm all for the right to bear arms, but I don't think that the average citizen needs an AR-15.

It pains me to say it, I own guns, have used them most of my life, but maybe it is time to rethink selling guns like the AR 15.

I know 99.9% of the people that own them will never use them for more than plinking, but we can't dispute that they make it easier for someone to fire many rounds without reloading.

It's a slippery slope, because technically they aren't fully automatic, they're essentially a semi automatic hunting rifle made to look like a military weapon, which they aren't. However, they do have clips that hold many rounds.

They woukdnt be my first choice for home protection, I'm going for effectiveness and practicality, that's my shotgun.

I'm torn on the issue, because I know that it won't stop someone hellbent on killing people, and the Antigun crowd won't stop with AR 15's.

And, as always, I hope they bury this guy in a hog gut. Except this time I hope they throw in an mp3 player with the longest available battery life set to repeat of Liberace and trance music and turn the volume up to 11.

“Facts don’t seem to matter to this administration, in this matter,” James Woolsey, who served as director of the CIA under President Bill Clinton, told Fox News after Obama’s statement. “This reluctance is doing real damage. You can’t effectively fight something if you can’t discuss it.”

Too busy discussing gun control and being as dramatic as humanly possible.

But you think the average criminal does? If someone has the potential to attack my home with an AR 15, why shouldn't I be allowed to have one to fight back with? It doesn't matter if I have an automatic weapon, what matters is that I don't shoot innocent people with it that pose no threat to my life.

There are already laws against average citizens owning fully automatic weapons as well as laws against shooting people. More laws won't change anything. Taking guns away from people that do not intend to do harm only empowers the criminal element, including our "government".

You can't judge a whole Nation of Islam by its bad apples. Clearly this was a one off disaster that isn't what Islam is about.

Further more if guns were not so easily had this kid might have been able to stay away from this terrible situation. We have got to tighten up our gun laws so that these otherwise good people do not get tempted to do these type of things for NO reason.
I hope you realize that most nazis didn't actually murder anyone either.
