Another day, another shooting in America. Prayers go out to the victims families and friends. May the victims RIP. When is this madness going to stop? I own more guns that the average person and carry one every I go. However what does a person need with an assault rifle? Those guns are made for one reason and that is to kill as many people in a short period of time as possible. As I type this, there is another lunatic planning the next one.

I don't have an assault rifle and I don't want one. But I have friends that do. Pretty confident that they would never do anything like this POS did. So I don't want to punish good Americans for the 1% of the bad evil in this world. At this point I don't have a great solution to this lone wolf terrorists or Americans that buy into what Isis is saying.

I guarantee you that Trump would ensure anyone on the terrorist watch list wouldn't be able to legally purchase a gun. That may not have stopped this one or the Boston bombings but that seems like something reasonable that most people would agree on - except liberals who wouldn't want to offend anyone.

It pains me to say it, I own guns, have used them most of my life, but maybe it is time to rethink selling guns like the AR 15.

I know 99.9% of the people that own them will never use them for more than plinking, but we can't dispute that they make it easier for someone to fire many rounds without reloading.

It's a slippery slope, because technically they aren't fully automatic, they're essentially a semi automatic hunting rifle made to look like a military weapon, which they aren't. However, they do have clips that hold many rounds.

They woukdnt be my first choice for home protection, I'm going for effectiveness and practicality, that's my shotgun.

I'm torn on the issue, because I know that it won't stop someone hellbent on killing people, and the Antigun crowd won't stop with AR 15's.
A guy can take a car and drive in a crowd of people, or he can fly a small plane into a stadium and kill same amount of people, and using your thinking, maybe we should ban cars and planes?

Nobody trusts the police or the military but wants them to be the only people with the good guns.

Basically the exact opposite of what the founders intended, in other words.

Pretty awesome tweet about Hamilton, Wes. Pretty dope to scrub out one of the icons of our founding.

What is the quote again....those who ignore history are gloomy ummm clouds or something I don't remember.

Funny stuff man. I also bet 90% of these anti gun nuts never even shot a gun, or have no clue Chicago and New York City are gun free safe zones
They're going to say that the guns come in from other states. And they may be correct but what they don't get is, criminals are going to ignore any laws they pass.
And just as drug bans show, illegals drugs make it to this country no matter how many laws we have. It would be the same with guns.

We have a pond on each side of us though that is a little different than over there.
The point is
If we do bring everybody back from the Middle East that is not going to change anything. That is not the secret to end this. They are not going to be like well ok they left our land and went back home. We can no longer call them the great satan anymore?

And that's what makes it comical with those gun haters, they actually think crime will disappear once guns are banned

Are some of you missing that he was born here 29 years ago. He's a natural US citizen. His parents have been here over 30 years. I don't know the answer as to how you stop this but I would like to understand why he was on a watch list and this happened. Hell, I was on the SSSS list for years due to all of my business travel overseas and I never went to the Middle East. Took forever to get off of it. How were they not all over this guy and others for their travel to known terrorist states? How many times are we going to go through because one of our own was converted, traveled to ISIS states for training, and then came back and gutted us?

I just don't understand why those that think banning law abiding people from owning an Ar-15, would stop a crazy person like this.

Did you learn nothing from the shooting at the Paris nightclub? Does France not have some of the most restrictive gun laws in the world?

Yet somehow, the terrorists got guns, didn't they? The only people that would obey your new laws, are not the ones you need to fear anyway.

In a modern twist, Burr and Hamilton attend an interfaith meditation and decide to turn over their semiautomatic muskets to authorities as the curtains draw close....

You're misunderstanding me, I'm not anti gun.

However, Every time there is a mass killing the AR-15 is used. At some point maybe we should lower our defenses, take a step back and assess the situation.

I'm not blaming the act on the gun, but there is no denying it makes the responsible party much more effective.

U.S. - 350ish million people.

Australia - less than 30 million.

U.S. - porous borders with huge immigration failures and illegal activity.

Australia - borders pigeons.

U.S. - has an Islamic fascist army of terror that wants to slaughter us.

Australia - nowhere near as targeted.

Aside from those minor technicalities, oh yea, sound logic.

It's depressing how dumb some in America have become.

So... Should the victims have had their own automatic weapons in the club with them to stop the terrorist?

The murderer didn't give a crap about any laws, so an assault gun ban wasn't going to stop him. But we didn't need to make it easy for him. No way he should've been able to walk in and buy a gun if he was suspected of being a terrorist.

Put the politics aside and elect a Common Sense Coordinator in charge of everything.

This is such a false equivalency. The vast majority of the 10K number that you quote are targeted homicides. That is, criminal knows victim and wants to kill them. While tragic, the gun isn't really the problem, it's the person.

In the case of these mass shootings, the person is obviously still the main issue, but an assault rifle allows them to compound the number of victims. If the Orlando shooter uses a typical handgun, maybe he's not able to kill as many people. Maybe more people escape.

The stupidity comes in that some people are so sure that they're right that they aren't even willing to discuss the issues at hand. That's true stupidity. It's a gray issue and people on both sides of the aisle see only black and white. This thread is proof positive.
And you proved your own point by your stupidity in believing you are right. Quite frankly you have missed the total issue here.

Where were all the armed Americans we heard from after the Paris shooting that said they would stop something like this in US?
Perhaps that club is a no weapons zone.

The AR 15 is neither automatic nor an assault weapon.

Does anybody on here disagree that we should have background checks that check to see if you're a nutcase or a terrorist?

If you're seeing a shrink and that person thinks you are a danger to others, or if the FBI thinks you have a hard-on for ISIS, shouldn't you be denied purchase of a weapon?

Was this guy seeing a shrink? Didn't the FBI monitor him and determine in their opinion he did not have a hard on for ISIS?

Sshhhhh....

It's much more entertaining watching them sound like complete dumbasses citing a media script using fear and words like "assault rifle" all while have absolutely no idea.

Same crowd that calls a magazine a clip.

Give a man a dozen 10 round mags single stack and I assure you if he knows what he's doing, you're going to have mass casualties. After a semi-auto rifle ban they'd just want to ban semi automatics all together, and that's the end goal of the treason lobby.

I'll continue to buy AR-15's AND AK-47's / other makes & models and pile them to the ceiling and then pass them on. I'll let these others take the gamble.

I'm all for common sense but banning guns to the point libs want is ridiculous. It hasn't changed a dam thing in Chicago or New York city. Didn't work with probation, and is clearly not working with drugs.

The Orlando shooting is a disaster for the politicians. ISIS has moved the bar. Open warfare has been declared on a known ISIS enemy, the gay community. I predict the LBGT community will wilt before the hot barrel of an AR-15. This act, IMO, will drive people back into the closet.
