I'm pretty sure we have at least three players with 9+ scoring average or close to it.2 players in double figures? Yikes.
4 players shooting below 26% from 3. Yikes
And get the turnovers down.Budd gotta get that ft% up too
I'm pretty sure we have at least three players with 9+ scoring average or close to it.
Yet averaging 75 PPG which is pretty decent and by far the best of Sha’s teams here (last year was a pathetic 62%). It really doesn’t matter where the points come from if you can score at that rate.2 players in double figures? Yikes.

Bud had numerous opportunities to pull up in the key just past the foul line but was indecisive. Often opted to drive in too deep and get lost in the trees. Probably a result of being able to do that in the past. Hope he learns. In the post game Willard said Clark's FG % is only 40% & he's much more dangerous driving & dishing than he is shooting. A big part of their game plan in the limited time he played was not letting Bud penetrate. Look for the rest of our BE opponents to take notice.
Some of the same issues with the offense from last year. The difference has been the press and defense overall has been better. Before the season posters voiced concern about outside shooting. At times some of the kids did make 3 pointers and some of them have good stats. Just not shooting them enough or in the right spots. Clark has shown so far he can't make outside shots. Okay for a point guard as long as the players he passes to can make them and take them.We desperately need Hines back to give the offense balance against good defenses. I like what Fisher has been giving us up front on offense, but he's the only one that can create in the post. It's not Payne's game really.
Team is just 223rd in 2PT% offensively. They're 195th in 3P% but 340th in % of points from 3 and 351st in 3PA:FGA, which is wild. The outside shot is a total non-factor for this team. In fact, we made just 8 three-pointers the past two games combined. Willard talked about being willing to trade 3's for 2's with us in how they wanted to give Clark openings to score and dare him too. Other teams will zone us more.
Defensively we're pretty good, but teams that move the ball and rely on outside shots like Villanova and Creighton have always shredded Holloway's defenses. Why he's 1-12 against those teams.
Exactly….and if you are averaging 75 PPG, does it matter where they come from?We are scoring more than last years team because of the press and points off of turnovers more so than having better outside shooters or offense. We also have more scoring in the low post due to Payne and Hines being more of an offensive presence.
Check our per game team assists compared to last year. No comparison except against Nova the other evening. Hes doing it over and over. He can beat his man easily and for some reason goes too far and gets caught. Doesnt he see the open jumper or floater??Bud had numerous opportunities to pull up in the key just past the foul line but was indecisive. Often opted to drive in too deep and get lost in the trees. The ppg number is going to go down now that we don’t have a bottom 50 SOSYet averaging 75 PPG which is pretty decent and by far the best of Sha’s teams here (last year was a pathetic 62%). It really doesn’t matter where the points come from if you can score at that rate.
We are also averaging more because of the opponents we played. Having a point guard is night and day. When busd is operating it’s so nice to watch. Crazy pitino thinks you can play without PgCheck our per game team assists compared to last year. No comparison except against Nova the other evening. Turnovers are part of it but not the entire story.
He’s trying to cover his rear end because he came up empty on a PG.Having a point guard is night and day. When busd is operating it’s so nice to watch. Crazy pitino thinks you can play without Pg
Uhm how did that go against Villanova? I rest my case.Exactly….and if you are averaging 75 PPG, does it matter where they come from?
It worked pretty good against ProvidenceUhm how did that go against Villanova? I rest my case.
The offense is night and day better than last year because you have more skilled players. The only player from last year's team that could keep up offensively would've been Coleman. Maybe Jenkins when healthy. The group of Clark, Williams, Simpkins, Staton-McCray, Fisher, Hines, and even Parker are so much more skilled than what we were running out there last year. You can see it.Some of the same issues with the offense from last year. The difference has been the press and defense overall has been better. Before the season posters voiced concern about outside shooting. At times some of the kids did make 3 pointers and some of them have good stats. Just not shooting them enough or in the right spots. Actually, they averaged just 60.3 pts per game out of conference (11 games) last year before the Big East. And their biggest offensive outputs of 76 and 69 were against their best competition in Oklahoma State and VCU.Wait till the season is over before you make comparisons like that. You are comparing apples to oranges when you compare full season to way less than half a season.
Yes I get it the offense is better but just how much is still to be determined. A lot of the current teams stats were not played on the home court of the opponents as will happen in the BE schedule about to be played and the competition will get better.
