Of course, there should be a requirement that each athlete is a full-time college student i.e. undergrad or post grad. The NCAA needs to grow some balls and judges should get out of it.We've lost all common sense.

And I don’t want to pick on HallDan but that post he made the other day about the athletic department once again having an all time high GPA is laughable.

There was a poster a few months back who trended the GPA back for a few years and basically showed what a farce it was. I’m guessing it now represents athletes who willingly share their academic performance and not the grand total of athletes in general.

I’d discuss the effects of NIL (student athletes no more),but I was warned weeks ago to keep quiet or else. College b-ball & football RIP. Those sports are now the new G (Greed) League.

We expect students to support their “fellow students” who play basketball (and football) but when they are paid and don’t have to attend class, we can’t understand why some choose not to participate.

I don't think anyone cares. Do fans really care? Donors? The Courts clearly don't care, it's all about money. It's not college basketball anymore, it's rooting for your school like they're a pro team. Whether or not the players do well in school or get degrees, who cares evidently. And when the rubber hits the pavement, the schools will also get a financial windfall if these sports teams do well so who are they to complain? Is Miami going to reject the revenue Carson Beck created for them because he didn't sit in World Religions or American History II?

There's so much money involved and - for now - all these mega donors just want to see their schools win. Once that happens IDK if there's an appetite to keep doing it, who knows what is sustainable long term. The only answer is some form of CBA that could include some order around academics or transferring.

So basically alumni are now welcome to participate in college athletics as long as they have some eligibility left.

I still root like mad for Seton Hall but I no longer have any interest in any other games. Only watched two CFB games all year. Will watch tonight as long as the game is competitive.
