Wait what…? Recruits in Student Section this Sunday?
Is that what this means?
Pretty sure I’ve kept my mouth shut about this first few times this year.

Need to help football recruiting out…
But for THIS game?

It’s like having to host your Boss for Christmas Eve Dinner.

Will football visitors really still be here Sunday evening? Before you all get bent out of shape.

Per nj.com article yes Schiano will have recruits at the game Sunday. How much room are they taking not sure but it'll probably be a lot and dead quiet from that area in what's sure to be a big game.

my only comment about this stuff is...that years back they did basketball letterwinners day and bumped all the letterwinners to the upper half of that section to allow for that football recruit section to be blockedoff/used. I think its one thing to block it off and just have students/fans fill in back part as this thread talks about but seems off to do it to letterwinners. In the grand scheme, its not something to get worked up over but to me, that just didnt seem fully thought through. Like maybe put letterwinners in first 3-5 rows then have recruits after that. I dont think recruits would notice one way or the other if they were row 1 vs row 5.

I can tell you this- ask a HS football player if he would prefer to watch a college basketball game or football game. Majority will tell you MBB.

Stop complaining about football recruits being at the games. It isn’t going to change.

Just because it isn't going to change doesn't mean we have to like it. As a 25+ year season ticket holder to both football and basketball, I absolutely hate it! A bunch of entitled teenage recruits and their families who are too cool to even cheer a peep for NJ's team drives me nuts. It sucks the life out of part of the student section which has a negative impact on the atmosphere (and perhaps the game).

no its going to kill the atmosphere potential in the student section
As some who is VERY anti-recruits getting 15-20 rows of the student section, 2-3 times per season, there were only a few rows of them at the Michigan game and, thankfully, mainly in black. The rest of 110 was solid student:

*** I do NOT know Frank Delcoure lol!

Not a single person here doesn’t want them “at the game.”

Senior night seems to be an unnecessary game that Schiano needs a section blocked off for. Let actual fans send off the seniors
I think it is more about when the football recruits are here vs what night it is for basketball.

I also HATE when recruits sit on their hands- also hate it during football games. And even worse, at football games when player families sit on their F-ing hands as well.

I am just not sure where he is supposed to sit them if not the student section.
The 300’s.

Just read the article, didn’t realize it’s junior day, should never have this the last home game of the season. I’m sorry. Half the section will likely be taken up that’s just wrong IMHO (and you know what a huge supporter I am of the football program).

That would be fair enough. but then, what happens to the people that are normally in that section or is that considered a walkup section? I don't know the MBB seating all that well.

Could be rectified pre-season.
Not knowing what sort of season we were going to have coming in- many expected a non NCAA season- it may have been all planned pre season.

Bottom line- football recruits and their families that visit during the MBB season will most likely be in the arena.
What I don't like is that they all seem to suck. When we did our OV's we had two BB games- GaTech and Rutgers- and Kevin and us, cheered like crazy fans at both of those games.
I want to even say the game we went to at Rutgers in 05 was against Providence and there was a NJ kid on their team that everyone was pretty pissed with.
But even next year- we will go into the season thinking NCAA- we are going to see the football team dictate what games recruits will be at.

I would think that maybe they can look at, moving forward, saving 300 level seats that can hold up to 100 people or so, for a few games that Greg picks out before the season. Then Greg gets to parade them all the way up those steps with more people seeing them then when they just come in from behind the bleachers into that student corner. I think that’s a win-win for all sides!

I do, I agree, if they’re gonna be sitting there, get up off your *** and get involved in the game!

you realize we are talking about football recruits at the basketball game? Everything I have posted is 100% in line with the entire conversation.
I get that you have a trigger for certain posters but you are making no sense here.

Great but im not going to be sympathetic to football recruits supplanting 300 students on this board

I have a solution - instead of putting them in say row 1-15 put them in row 15-30 or whatever .. students in front instead of behind, and the recruits will be forced to stand and will see people in front of them cheering and all that .. instead of sitting on their hands. If they still wanna sit on their phones they can. I think this will 1) improve the atmosphere with students closer to the court, and 2) may actually improve the recruit experience too because they’ll feel more “into” the game

The shame with most recruits these days- is that they really do not care. Some will enjoy the game but so many are just checking their phone to see if anyone has commented on them being there or if they got shown on TV.

except there would be no program without football- basketball is turning the corner faster but football is still what drives the bus and the reason we are where we are.
Football is not turning the corner at all. Theirs nothing to look forward to, not until the football coach is replaced. Basketball is sacrificing for a flatlined football program

I mentioned this a couple weeks ago. Put them in the upper rows of section 110 if Greg insists on having them over there. No need for them to take up the front rows. NONE.

You got to laugh at his pathetic antics to try and control the narrative. He knows he's got no basis here because Pike and Schiano support each other when it comes to recruiting.

Further, is it really that much a difference if the decibel level is 104 instead of 105 or 106? There's literally no change in the environment at those ear splitting levels.

There's nothing to "rectify." Fortunately Coaches Schiano and Pikiell are 100% on the same page about this and don't give a hoot what you think.

Yes there is. Rutgers is in the Big Ten now and it's time that you and other dinosaur posters on this board get used to it.

Exactly. These insufferable complainers should stop embarrassing our fanbase with this small-time garbage. They'll soon be begging for football recruits to help fill empty seats during the upcoming NIT games.
