Yes that would be our R chant leader Tim B and his son. The kid with the arms wide open holding the RU flag (can’t really see his face) behind them is my son! The big screen zoomed in on him after Suriano win. Tim’s son put him on his shoulders as I held him while my boy waved the RU flag. It was so friggin surreal. Best moment of my son’s life lol!

Also of note is Tom Tannis in that picture who was the last RU AA before Perrotti broke through.

Anyone catch Hobbs with Ashnault’s parents? Anyone who doesn’t think he’s all in on RU sports, watch that.

Guarantee there aren’t many AD’s of B1G schools cheering like fans in the front row at a wrestling event, championship or not.

Pat Hobbs is the real deal and as Cali and AYN alluded to, there are some real clueless people on this board regarding 1) His ability to run this athletic department 2) His long term status in the program.

First off, unless he or Sarah do something stupid that generates bad press, they are going nowhere... nor should they. Certain posters are obsessed with Hobbs because of the Chris Ash hire and contract. However, for those like myself who were brought up to speed on how poorly our AD office was run for decades coupled with the lack of facilities and outside support, what Hobbs has done behind the scenes and on the PR front has been nothing short of outstanding.

His ability to interact with donors, student athletes, politicians and media is exactly what this program needed. His attention to important details and ability to raise not tens.. but nearly hundreds of millions of dollars is game changing. This guy even attracted non-sports alumni to donate substantial amounts of money to support the academic side of our student athletes.

I spoke with Hobbs for a few moments at the RU social in Pittsburgh and thanked him for the real commitment he has made to the wrestling program. And its real. He didn't just drop in for a quick photo shoot either. He was in the arena, with the family and friends cheering on the athletes and making the rounds promoting RU. To see him jumping out of his seat with Anthony's mom after he won the title on ESPN was such a good look.

Hobbs sits matside for most of the big matches and is always gracious. His football coach turned out to be a dud. It sucks, but it is something he is working through. The important thing is that he is not making a rushed decision nor allowing that situation to neglect his attention from many of the other things that RU needs to get done from an AD perspective. There is a lot more that is needed from a NJ and Rutgers AD then "picking a football coach". Perhaps in Tennesee, but not in NJ. This guy is the right person at the right time and people who don't understand that better accept it because unless he leaves on his own, he not going anywhere.

This should be pinned. It’s spot on.
