RUTGERS WRESTLING HAD THE MOST DONORS TO ANY ATHLETIC TEAM DURING GIVING DAY AND EARNED AN EXTRA $5,000 FOR THE PROGRAM !

THANK YOU TO THE BEST WRESTLING FANS IN THE LAND !

I didn’t donate yesterday but I did donate to the SKWC ironically the day before.

Question, though: what benefits the wrestling program more —donating directly to the wrestling team or SKWC? Obviously people will say both, but I would think the SKWC could target the funds better with the quality of trainees in the room, etc. What is the best route if people had to pick one?

Yup, it's our go to donation place the past 3 years. You get more bang for your buck(however no priority points). We donated for years to Rutgers, earmarked it to a specific sport but never knew where our money went. With the SKWC pin pool we know it goes directly to helping our wrestlers gain top notch training partners. Get them and it's a direct line to better recruits.

Regarding paying for tournaments and travel, how does that work. Does the university budget have to pay? Can skwc if it is a rs wrestler?

Or do what I do. Donate to both! We also organized a group of ex wrestlers and sponsored a scholarship last year in honor of several fallen to soon wrestlers.

One of the parents of a former wrestler who posts here answered that question a few months ago. If memory serves, University Budget pays for all scheduled matches and tournaments, the College can pay for 1 Open Tournament, after that the wrestler is responsible for his own expenses.
I think the SKWC and any other club, can only contribute towards the hiring of coaches and other personnel for their club and the NJRTC. I don't think they are allowed to contribute towards kids travelling to Open Tournaments.
I think when Ashnault went to Khazakstan (sp?), one of the USA wrestling organizations funded that..

Ashnault’s Trip. Wasn’t it in support of Athletes in Action?

Yeah, now that you mention it , it was.

PS- has anyone heard anything that Suriano wouldn't be doing any free style tourney's in the off season ? I know that Ashnault will, same with Richie Lewis.

thanks. so if people wanted to donate directly to funding travel and open tournament expenses would that be possible. When you say only 1 is it not possible to pay for 2 even if the expenses are donated. Also rutgers should host an open tournament if possible. Especially with the new facilities, with little expense to the wrestlers, I dont know if there are restrictions if not getting more open tournaments would be good.
