I need to check out the comics then. The cartoon? Is that the clone wars?

There's two cartoons, Clone Wars and Rebels. I haven't read any of the of the comics, but the cartoons, while there's some good episodes, are more filler than a significant contribution to the mythology. I wouldn't consider them mandatory viewing.

Thought that was purged from canon.
Palpatine/Darth Sidious tells Anakin in episode III about Darth Plagueis the wise and how he could save others from death but not himself. I read this in the Darth Jar Jar stuff.

Thats right. He is mentioned in 3. There is a bigger back story from other books that talks about the sith relationship (I think that is thrown out). Characters exist, but their stories might be gone. Check the reddit thread, pretty interesting.

Yeah, basically any book or comic from before Disney acquired the franchise is gone.

That kind of sucks. That's what drew me to it. All of this lore and these characters that predate everything by thousands of years. Is the rule of two thrown out?

As per the Making Star Wars news website, J.J. Abrahams himself confirmed that the Supreme Leader Snoke was the one responsible for Klyo Ren in becoming a bad guy.

"He was critical in the seduction of Ren to the dark side. He is a hugely important part of the story and will continue to be."

This being said, whatever Kylo Ren's backstory was, it eventually ended up with Snoke, tempting him to join the dark side of the Force [though it may already be a known fact, but there could be more to the background story from what we know so far] .

Any video game is thrown out as well which sucks because Knights of the Old Republic has an amazing story and is set a 1000 years before the movies so there was no real conflict to the new stuff.

Adam Driver looks too similar to a young Harrison Ford not to be Han and Leia's son. And with the "I will finish...what you started" line in the trailer, it's almost a certainty that he is Vader's grandson.

With Rey - who knows. She could be Han and Leia's daughter, but I'm betting on her being Luke's daughter.

Does the directors of Star Wars have a quota on how many British actors must be in the new Star Wars movies? Seems like a lot in the last 4.

Confused by what you mean by the last 4. Regardless, C3P0 and original obiwan were played by English actors.

Last 4 meaning episode 1 - 3 and the force awakens. It was a jab at the leading characters being heavily British in those films. Not that it really matters.

Foreign actors most often come up through the theatre stage. It produces a better type of actor due to the demands since there isnt any cut, lets do it again.

Also the fact that most of the films (With the exception of Jedi which had a lot of filming done in California to stand in for Endor and Tatooine when Tunisian filming was unavailable) themselves have been filmed in England and Australia (outside of location filming i.e. Iceland for Hoth I believe in Empire) primarily might have something to do with it.

Stage acting and film acting are two different animals and both difficult in their own regard. Theatre doesn't make a better film actor though. If anything it makes a worse film actor. Theater actors tend to telegraph and "show" more because they are used to playing for the audience; the people in the upper balconies. Film actors are taught less is more; just say the damn line as my coach always says. Also it's much more difficult to get into the same emotional state for several takes. This is why if you aren't trained then it's very difficult to achieve the truth under imaginary circumstances. A stage in my training was called emotional prep with a reason for being there. As an actor you have to be able to get to that place as soon as the director yells roll or action. It's difficult. In my experience, theatre actors have a much harder time doing this.

Just 1 week until the premiere and we will get some type of feedback whether this movie will be accepted or another heart break.

Abrams love for star wars definitely seems to of gotten the best acting out of many just from watching the trailers and tv spots. In the cinematography courses I took, was stressed that if you love what you do, you will instill life into everyone around you. Of course meaning that doing your best in a positive way is infectious. And it appears Abrams did that. Of course I deleted my student films right after being graded lol.... Seems the only thing infectious I had going for me was a twisted and crazy sense of humor.

Hayden Christensen is the best actor of all time, and he ain't no Brit. So, False.

He sure was able to find that whiney, annoying brat that hates sand deep inside ..but maybe he was just method acting. LOL

to be fair, even Portman was wooden at times in the prequels

It's not going to be a heartbreak. I think Abrams is going to nail it.

Some people are going to be disappointed because it can't possibly live up to the hype some have created for it. People expecting it to be the greatest movie ever or even the greatest Star Wars film ever really isn't fair.

That being said, I expect to enjoy the film.

as long as its not Lucas with no one to answer to or Michael Bay directing this movie... I'll certainly enjoy it.

Lucus put the bar so low with the prequels that this will be more than satisfactory. I'm not expecting to equal IV and V. But I'm expecting some good popcorn fun

Episode III did not suck. That was a pretty fun film.

I expect basically the Hunger Games with an attempt to remake the OT plots.

well its up to 98% odds that supreme leader snoke is Darth Plagueis the wise as good ole Sheev would say. Since its basically been confirmed by a lot of people that Snoke is a Muun .

^ No it hasn't. JJ has said several times that Snoke is NOT Plagueis - he's not pulling a Khan/Star Trek Into Darkness stunt again. Plagueis is dead.
