I'd rather them have more time on the story and production instead of rushing one out but having to wait 2 years...... AHHHHHHHHHHH at least give us some nude rey pics to keep us entertained.
Makes much more sense to spread out the movies and milk this as much as possible from a profit standpoint, didn't really understand why they were wanting to release them a year and a half apart.
Its not a good move in the international box office to go against Avatar 2 though. I think they should move the date to the beginning of December

I just don't get it. Avatar was meh. Even in IMAX 3d, it was meh. What's the appeal?
I wonder how much the main character being a woman has effect on the chinese box office? I was told by a chinese american friend of mine that it might not go over well in china because many don't like women shining over men.
That's probably a factor (I just looked and the Hunger Games films didn't do great over there). It's doing okay in China. Apparently the biggest thing is Star Wars just doesn't have the previous exposure over there.
The trade federation is Asian with the robot army. The fact that a galaxy far, far away still doesn't have very many Asians is going to cost Star Wars a chance to overtake avatar.
First point: If you can't get behind a female protagonist and would be jedi for these movies then that's on you. I'm a big fan of Sarah Conner, Ellen Ripley, Samus Aran etc. Besides I don't know how blatant it really was. Its not like she ran around saying I'm a woman don't tell me what to do blah blah blah girl power. She also had a ton of help from a bunch of guys.
Second point has been talked about a lot in the previous pages. Given the circumstances and her still unknown heritage its pretty plausible.
Han asks about the 3rd point in the movie and Maz says it is a story for another time. Pay attention next time. Plus I'm not sure how important that it actually is really.
Perfect the force? I didn't see her hurl a tree at Ren with the force or something. Plus Luke was pretty damn immature. So with no training at all, she's able to do Jedi mind tricks and almost perfect the force, which is something Luke needed three movies to do?
Pretty sure she has been tinkering around on that hunk of junk for years. She's been on the Millenium Falcon for 10 minutes and she knows the ship better than Han Solo?
Well Finn is a Stormtrooper so being weak and incompetent should be right in his wheelhouse. The handholding scene, being the one to save Finn multiple times

"Firefly" did a great job of subtlety incorporating Asian influence w/out casting, you know, Asians.

And it lasted one season and no one in China knows it exists.
I do love firefly though. Got the shaft.
I just wish it was a bunch of white dudes in the lead roles. If they have a woman then give her like 5 minutes of screen time and only have her there for eye candy. We know that's all they are good for anyway. Black dudes? Just leave them out all together. Nobody wants to see that ****. Native Americans in space? That's dumbest thing I've ever heard. Political correctness is destroying everything! Can't even watch a damn movie any more without someone trying to convince me that a woman can master the force quicker than a man! I'm sick of it.
No I don't think you should beat your audience over the head. And I didn't feel like I was beat over the head with it. Then again I didn't go into the theater looking for JJ's ulterior motives. I can understand the place JJ is coming from though if he does have an agenda. Women in this industry have historically been given ****** roles and paid substantially less than their male co-stars. The same goes for African Americans and people of color in general. That is starting to change some and hopefully over the course of the next twenty years or so that will slowly become the norm.*Sigh*
When you have six stories and film after film with character development showing us how our protagonist improved and trained to grow toward the ultimate end game- it sets a precedent how a story arc should go.
So when you've had Jedis like Anakin, Luke and even Obi Wan being trained to become better and didn't just automatically go from 0-100 within 10 minutes, you can see how it would bother someone. Tons of male characters show their transformation from novice to mastering their craft- Batman, Rocky, Luke Skywalker, etc. It basically, made Kylo Ren look like a total ***** as it did many of the other characters.
Ren is "super independent woman" with no training at all, somehow learns the "force" and how to use a lightsaber on the fly with never being trained. Meanwhile Luke has to train for years where as Rey needs 10 minutes.
And deliberately stating you don't want whites and you come out and say you don't want white actors like J,J, did, that in itself is a problem. He made sure to give us those close-ups of women in the military and all of the different races so those boxes got checked off.
But you're a filmmaker, right? You think you should beat your audience over the head with your political message? That was a subtle to a hammer to the skull.
