Could be a money thing. I am sure Notre Dame is paying dearly to get some games.
I'd say probably not. The ACC will cash in on TV ratings with Notre Dame. They already had a 5 game agreement with them.

Didn't say it was a death wish but it certainly is a major contributing factor in covid deaths
You’re absolutely right. My point really is that, even though a large percentage of the deaths are in people over 65, most of us are vulnerable in one way or another. The answer is not just “keep the old people home so the rest of us can party”. It’s much more complex than that. And so many people don’t want to accept that until it hits home. We have become a very narcissistic, selfish society.Certainly obesity may skew the numbers some but to what degree I dont know...but obesity generally brings a different subset of problems other than just being overweight...diabetes,hypertension, and heart disease to name a few...regardless those are all underlying conditions that contribute significantly to covid deaths...1 study says up to 99% of all covid deaths have been in people with pre-existing conditions

More "years of life" will be lost from shutdowns than C19.
Don't put him down as being old ! I am almost 70 with must of the conditions that people have that don't make it, are you going to say, oh he had 1 foot in the grave anyway if it takes my life ? You will be old someday !He was old. I bet he had underlying health issues. *eyeroll*

Sorry, I guess I took it wrong. The older you get the more sensitive you get about your age and it seems worse because I worry about COVID-19.I wasn't putting him down. It was sarcasm because that seems to be what many people say when someone dies of Covid. We seem to believe it's not a major issue because it kills older folks or people with underlying conditions.

You’re right, I’m not saying to shut everything down. But when I look around, I see bars and gyms closed. I see local schools making some tough decisions. I see businesses with reduced capacity. Other than that, I don’t see a great deal that is closed. I’m not saying that those shown above are not important because they are. But the idea that the government has shut everything down is simply not true.I agree with that..we all have a responsibility to be as safe as we can,if not for ourselves, then for others but just as the answer cant be "keep the old people home" it cant be shut everything down either..not saying that's what you're advocating by the way
I’m getting tired of hearing the deaths attributed to the “preexisting condition” crap. Just peel everything back. If the deceased had not contracted Covid, they would still be alive. Simply put, deaths were because of the virus.
So you all are saying the deaths that are labeled Covid are all from the virus. I think that is what a lot of us talk about. How many 100% healthy people have died from it. If you aren’t you are at a higher risk can’t change that.
I believe that the overwhelming majority of deaths labeled as COVID are accurate. And the answer to your question is none. By the time a person dies with it, they are certainly not healthy. So you all are saying the deaths that are labeled Covid are all from the virus. I think that is what a lot of us talk about. Im not a mask person but when I go out I will wear one just out of respect for other people. While I’m working my 50 to 60 hours a week keeping the country going I don’t wear one. There is one place I go into I will. If you in the certain age range you have to what you think is best for you. It my be best for to stay at the house until you think it’s safe.
Good Lord..Cooper announces at least 5 more weeks of Phase 2...put a fork in it..WE ARE DONE
If someone has an auto immune
Those people that have health issues have to work, get groceries, and other task. It's just not that easy.
Not to get groceries. You can get almost anything on Amazon or on the internet. That’s when you have to make a choice. One of your choices my be sitting at home in the evenings and not going into crowds if you are really worried about the Virus.
Gentle Knight, You are correct. We are done for the year. Might as well put the helmets and pads back into storage.
Conditions in 5 weeks will be not drastically improved from what they are now. He will add 5 more weeks of phase 2 then also.
The way it is going it may be several years before we are able to play again unless we have change in political leadership.
The world health organization said yesterday we may never have a vaccine that actually works.
My job takes me all over north Georgia. I drove by Murray county high school in chatsworth ga yesterday. They were practicing like normal getting ready for their season.
Football will probably get a go in the late winter early spring.
I'd say most schools will be fine if basketball can get started.
Athletic directors will just have to be tight and smart with spending. Boosters clubs will have to help out as well if schools have one.
Thunder I agree with you, my only concern is booster clubs main source of income is primarily small businesses, and they are hurting more than ever right now. It may not be as simple as asking the boosters for more funds. Take a struggling program that may have came into this just breaking even, and now remove football before you play the rest of the sports. I’m not a math genius but the funds have to come from somewhere or we simply cannot play.
Valid concerns.
I'd be curious what a schools bare bones budget is if they just cover officials and transportation.
If everything is played in the winter and spring that will reduce some expenses granted it will also limit income. I'd say likely if we go into winter/spring to get everything in, travel will be limited and it will mostly be conference only.
For once I'm going to agree with you. That's an accurate assessment of a time table. My problem all along has been the lack of a plan. Quit stringing us along. Announce no sports until December and have a plan like Virginia. At least then we'll know what we're dealing with.Football will probably get a go in the late winter early spring.

I know this whole thing isn’t funny, but I just had a flash of you sitting alone, in the snow, in the Bob Uecker seats hollering that same thing.Playball

If he's sitting at The Big Oaks, I'll guarantee he won't be sitting alone. LolI like to imagine him sitting in the empty stands on a Friday night yelling it with a grumpy look on his face and his arms crossed.
It's all in good fun BK.

If basketball has a full season with playoffs and most schools have really good players that play basketball and football with basketball spilling over into spring football if football starts in March. Going to be some or all that play football jumping to football ? If possibly basketball starting a month or so early if it is safe with COVID-19 under control. Is this going to work with spring football ? Of course, they can shorten the basketball season.
Basketball and Wrestling coaches at good football schools have to wait weeks into the season almost every year for the football players to finish the season. Football can wait for Winter to finish just the same.
