He'll say anything to prove himself right and make sure everyone but Schiano, including the fans, takes the blame for terrible football. Blaming the head coach! Madness!
You don’t understand the challenges of the football coaches. You’ve incorrectly focused your ire on the head coach and not acknowledged the root cause of the issue, which has been in place for generations.
Rutgers Football has never been properly capitalized making recruiting difficult. For example, Princeton fans supported a successful football program, which is why they have 15 National Championships, while we have zero. Princeton owns the All Time Series over Rutgers, going 53-17-1. After winning the first game, Rutgers never beat Princeton till 1938.
Rutgers Fans are willing to spend what they perceive as entertainment value. But This only pays for operational expenses. There is a capital infrastructure that needs to be built to attract recruits. Of course I am talking about the Football Fieldhouse. Michigan has two indoor facilities in place. A main one and an auxiliary annex, which is also used for tailgating.
Michigan has adequate infrastructure in place. Penn State has it in place. Maryland has it in place, Ohio State has it in place. We are doing without, and are doing the best we can.
It is difficult to be successful, when you are unable to successful recruit your first choice recruits. That’s why this job requires more effort than others.
Everyone wants a successful football program,But too many The fans have not done their share to facilitate a successful football program. You’ve openly admitted to being one of them. Which is why it’s confusing to me as to how you can criticize our most successful head coach, without helping to give him the tools to succeed.
Despite all the constraints, we are on track to having a winning program by year 6, two years ahead of his 8 year contract. It looks like the monster class of ‘24, is going to significantly resolve any remaining talent gap issues. And if we do it sooner, so much the better.
