BREAKING: Speaker Johnson and Steve Scalise are about to pass a BETTER VERSION of the SAVE Act that requires both photo ID and citizenship to vote - with the goal of lighting a fire under the Senate GOPThat's more like it! GET IT PASSED!

If the Senate does not pass the SAVE Act and/or schedule a date for a vote by the time we return, I have enough votes from other members to shut down the floor of the House.
We are not going to play games—especially given that half of the Republicans in both the House and Senate are concerned about their reelection and want the floor open for their messaging bills.
They are not allowed to hide behind the president and his agenda while knifing the American people in the back. They need legislation for their elections, so they MUST pass the SAVE Act. Election integrity is the most important issue in this country for the future of our nation.
Because they cheat/lie/steal. That's what Demonrats do.
This should have never been up for debate ever.
Imagine you or I going to Mexico and saying that we should be allowed to vote.

OUR elections need to be one day voting on the day of. Absentee ballots for military and people that live abroad.
Timeline:
April 2025: Senator Chuck Grassley expressed skepticism about the bill advancing in the Senate due to 1) the inability to overcome the filibuster (not having 60 votes), and 2) he was wary of federal intervention in state election processes
January 21, 2026: Grassley clarified his stance on X, stating he is "not opposed 2 SAVE Act."
January 29, 2026: Grassley announced he is "now a cosponsor of the SAVE Act."
As I've long held, and this Greassley-specific timeline would support, this was always about timing and not about whether or not it would ultimately become law.
And yes, it's all but a lock that the Act will pass—even if that means bypassing the filibuster and passing it with a simple majority vote. Oh, and just in time to change the entire landscape of the upcoming election in November.

A "standing filibuster" means 50 VOTES are needed after senators finish debate
Traditionally, if you wanted to force a 60-vote requirement, senators actually had to SHOW UP and debate until they couldn't any longer
