Nice to see Sha's personality on display with the kids. Not nice that there were a lot of crickets when he asked who had their Season Tickets.

it's a consequence of the performance and his lockout mentality from past seasons.

this is the exact kind of thing he needs to start doing and everyone here should be happy with. it's small but it's a start

Willard was very, very difficult to deal with re the fans and the media. Then he had that disastrous season in Whitehead's freshmen year ending in the debacle that was so bad a deranged SHU fan spit at him as he was leaving MSG. The following year, humbled, Willard changed his persona for the better. I believe after last season's catastrophe Holloway in now on that same path.

Live, learn and adapt. Otherwise .......

The insane part about all of this is that Sha was with KW when KW made all those mistakes at SHU and then Sha came in and doubled down on all of them
those aren't the only mistakes he's doubled down on. much of the offense and always trying to make a non PG work at PG

I might push back a little on that. He had Richmond for 2 years and last season he had Dual (injured all year) and Harmon (who did have mental issues coming here) at the point.

This year he has Clark and probably Parker, both underclass at the point.

The key will be retaining our good players going forward. Let's hope we've turned over a new leaf, have a decent season and with revenue sharing we can start to retain our best players. Also hoping Sha and the coaching staff treats our players well so they actually want to stay so we can build a better future here.

Sha is a tough love kind of coach. He really cares about the players but once between the lines he demands the same dedication from them that he had as a player. That's not for everybody, but those that come here should know what they are getting into.

Me personally, I would have loved to play for a coach like that if I had the talent. Don't tell me what I want to hear, tell me what I need to do to become a better player and teammate.

You create a false dichotomy: it doesn't have to be either blowing smoke or "tough love." A coach could also teach you how to become a better player and teammate without ranting-and-raving like a lunatic... It's called, you know, coaching...

Ehhh he personalizes everything and makes it about him.

Remember him screaming on the sidelines at players for all the building and TV viewers to hear: "how could YOU ******* do this to ME?"

That's not tough love, that's egocentric toxicity.

Sha is an incredibly competitive person who has to learn, and I believe is, to control his emotion.

I know from talking to the players and those on the staff that behind the scenes he does everything he can to help his players. At least as much as any coach and probably more.

The problem is though as you both suggested fans only see certain things because they do not have behind the scenes access as the media does.

Tony B is like that as well. In the heat of the moment Tony losses it too. But behind the scenes, just like Holloway he'll give you the shirt off his back.

I realize these "In the Huddle" sequences during games mean nothing but I am often struck by the difference in the messaging and the way messages are delivered between Sha and opposing coaches.

this year seems like he's turned a corner. i think it's pretty clear harmon was more than a wing and a prayer.
