He has more than 2000 yards of total offense and 38 total touchdowns. The Heisman winner should be Trent Richardson or Montee Ball.

Look,<span style="font-weight: bold;"> Baylor has never beaten Oklahoma - until this year</span>. They've has beaten Texas two straight years. He has almost 4,000 yards, he's completing 73% of his passes (11 yards per attempt, so he's not just dumping it off), he has 45 total TDs, he's most electric player in the country to watch and....

He's going to win the 2011 Heisman Trophey. Deservedly so.

Agree mostly. I have Honey Badger the edge, but I'd be cool with RG3 winning it.<div>
</div><div>But what's going to happen is...bank it....Trent Richardson wins. Ya see, the Heisman can only go to the best offensive player on the top 2 teams. That's Trent. Sorry, but them's the rules.</div>

Secondly, it doesn't go to the best NFL prospect. Lastly, I'd take Griffin.

If you put together a highlight video from Mathieu and Griffin this season; Mathieu's would be about 5 to 7 plays long and Griffin's would be about 5 to 7 minutes long. The dude would be the best QB in the SEC by a mile. You sound like someone that didn't watch him play this year.

If you take Mathieu off LSU, they're probably still in the National Championship game. If you take Griffin in Baylor, they're not a bowl team.

I don't know if he wins it but I've seen him play several times and he is amazing. And then to hear him interview and he is even more amazing. If I were running a pro team I take this guy without a second of hesitation. A great football player and a character guy with his head on straight.

What does the NFL have to do with the Heisman at all? The Heisman is for the best COLLEGE football player. NFL has nothing to do with it. If it did then Luck would be the sure fire winner. It does kinda bother me that some people think he should still win it, even though RG3 has put up far better numbers.

As previously stated, the heisman isn't the most pro-ready or even the most talented football player. It's an award for the "most outstanding" football player that year, so how do we measure this? Easy, find the player that most attributes to the success of a team in this year. So with this we have:<div>
</div><div>1. Richardson- great rb, but the bama defense and other playmakers still achieve almost the same success without him.</div><div>2. Honey Badger- once again, extremely good player and many say he's one of the most pro-ready people, could arguably have been the game changer of a couple of games (georgia) so I'd give him 2nd</div><div>3. Luck- Kinda the same as above. Although he definitely is the deciding factor in Stanford's success, people kinda expected more and I think that hurts him.</div><div>
</div><div>And then there's RG3:</div><div>Here's a guy who plays for a ****-tastic Baylor team in terms of pretty much everything minus receiving (and rushing that he mostly contributed to). The team's only other real play-maker is a wide receiver (Kendall Wright), who wouldn't be highly as regarded without some of RG3's insane throws. Basically without him this team wins a couple of lesser Big 12 games and has a normal season, with him they beat Oklahoma and Texas. You can see I obviously think he's the most deserving, but in terms of importance to team's success I see no better person than RG3.</div>

Put Richardson behind Baylor's offensive line and while good, he wouldn't be quite so dominant - even against Big 12 defenses. <div>
</div><div>Put Griffin behind Bama's, and there would be NO controversy about Bama's participation in the BCSC game.</div><div>
</div><div>And while Matthieu has a cute little nickname, put him on any other team and he ain't spending this weekend in NYC.</div>

So your criteria is NFL success? While Manning has obviously had a HOF career as a QB, Woodson has had the same as a DB. Flip a coin as to who is more deserving, same as the year they were both up for the Heisman.<div>
</div><div>Sounds like your criteria for the Heisman is the best SEC player.</div>

He has had an amazing season. For a while there he had more TDs than incompletions. Against Texas, he threw for 320 yards, on just 15 completions. He's a great runner, too.

Trent Richardson is the best athlete of the bunch, but he just hasn't had a standout season. I give Bama a little credit for not just running up his stats at the end of games, but still there was not a single game where Richardson put the team on his back and carried them to victory.

The Honey Badger got suspended during the season for smoking weed. Synthetic weed, at that. End of story -- I'm actually surprised he even got invited to New York.

Andrew Luck will almost certainly have the better NFL career out of the whole group (Richardson will be a good one, but these days RBs burn out a lot faster than QBs). But NFL potential does not have any bearing on the Heisman.

I have a feeling Luck is in the driver's seat. Stanford has a better record than Baylor, and that's been a factor for all Heisman awards. And if Richardson wins, that means that 3 winners in a row are from the state of Alabama ... I don't think that's going to happen. And if Honey Bear wins, even that would be 3 in a row from the SEC. I think they're going to feel that it's some other conference's turn to win.

It's all relative anyhow. I really can't see how anyone could argue against Luck, TR or RGIII, I think they are all deserving. As for as the pro comparison, I think Luck will have the best career, however; it will probably take 3 years or so for him to develop. Running backs are a dime a dozen in the pros, and I'm not sold on RGIII as a pro quarterback.</p>

is 1000 times more deserving than Richardson. 1500 yards behind Bama's offensive line is nowhere near Heisman worthy. Put Richardson with the exact same stats on just about any other team in America and he is not even in the Heisman discussion. Anyone saying that RGIII is less deserving than Richardson is a f-ing idiot. Let's all remember that the Heisman is supposed to go to the best player in college football, NOT to an above average media darling from a great team.

Am I going to have to play the race card? He's not some athlete who scrambles...He has the highest QB rating in the country, 72.5% completion, 36 TD, 6 INT (better than Luck on all 3 of those). He's projected a top 10 pick by most, and some projections have him even going ahead of Richardson.

The players are on the teams that are on. Numbers are there, ain't no changing them. That's part of college football, the players get to go where they want to go, knowing very well the risks and rewards.<div>
</div><div>I'm pretty sure Julio Jones could have been up for the Heisman had he played at Auburn last year, or Oklahoma State, or a lot of other places. **** works both ways. </div><div>
</div><div>I think Ingram is better than Richardson, personally. Alabama's offense passed my eye test better the past 2 seasons than this year. See, you think I'm a Bama hater, but honestly, I'm just not that sold on how good Alabama is this year. McCarron leaves a lot to be desired.</div>

and there's a reason for that. It's because they do something amazing. I mean, there's no doubt that your odds of winning a Heisman are greater at Alabama than at Baylor. It's just the system, sort of like the BCS. It's all based on voter subjectivity. You might see me argue an opinion, but at the end of the day, the rules are reality.<div>
</div><div>Don't worry, Finebaum will likely vote for Richardson. Or he'll at least tell you he did.</div>

I wouldn't call a guy that made game changing plays last year as a true freshman and this year as a true sophomore a fad. The nickname, sure, its a fad. His play speaks for itself. If not for him, LSU might have lost 2-3 games - he is one guy on the field that can make tremendous things happen, change the entire game. Trent is similar, but the Honey Badger gets my vote this year.
