I may be missing something but feel like this team could have just as easily finished the season the same way if Lemonis had not been fired. Selmon would then have a tougher decision on whether to move on from Lemonis or not. Feels like the timing of the decision to let him go after the Auburn series was right on to avoid this exact situation. I know some think he should have been let go end of 2023 season but that would have been really hard for a brand new AD to make that decision especially with a coach who had won the schools only national title just two years prior. Anyhow seems like a sneaky great strategic decision on timing from Selmon - not sure if we are allowed to give him credit on here.
