A really good person, which is rather uncommon for a politician. He was just getting started in NJ politics when I left Jersey in 1977, but you could see he had the goods to make it. Met him in person 10 years or so ago at a funeral for a family member. Rest in Peace.

I was asked to post this

I met the Gov in 2008. He was the best person and Seton Hall basketball fan of all time. He had such passion and loyalty for the Pirates. And he treated me like a son, as he knew how much i came to love SH so quickly.

We probably played golf for over 20 times, he was a great competitor. I saw him this past summer - and we spoke about his love and care for shaheen and the Pirates.

We now have another basketball God in the Gov overseeing us from above.

Go Pirates!

Always wondered why this Irish kid from Orange went to FDU instead of SHU. But he truly bled blue.

I would like to thank everyone for their kind thoughts in this difficult time . My family and I appreciated all your support. It mens a lot to us . Thank you Dan, Roxy, Cern and everyone who expressed their condolences.

He did not like flying and in the last 20 years only flew twice . To Charleston for the Hall and the Charleston Classic, and to Tampa for the South Florida game early in Willard's tenure when we got off to a hot start . Seton Hall was his passion .

He sat across from me at the Prudential Center and numerous times former players would stop to chat with him .

A former player was sick and needed rehabilitation. He had no health coverage. My brother paid out his pocket . He helped numerous former players long after they wore the blue and white .

Prior to their game Sunday night Rutgers had a tribute to my brother and posted his picture on their scoreboard .

This is a picture of the Rutgers scoreboard sent by their Athletic Dept to my nephew. Thank you Rutgers for a classy acknowledgement.

Never too soon to make a gift to the school you loved to watch play and have the family announce it. It would be a fitting legacy the former politician leaves behind. It may not be something that would happen today or next week but maybe down the road. Bequests left to schools, churches etc. are very common and nothing to sneeze at. I know of churches that have had multiple bequests left to them.

Very sorry to hear this. I did not know the Governor but was aware of his long association with youth basketball and Seton Hall.

My condolences to @rcodey and his family. May Governor Codey rest in peace.

Sat 4 seats from him in same row for many years.
Was always amazed at the number of people stopping by to say hi and schmooze.
Real nice person.
PS
ALWAYS made sure to be back in my seat before 2nd half.
Did not want to annoy him by standing up to let me by.
RIP Gov.
