UNC Men’s Soccer 2025-2026

So explain this one to me please, here is the course of events:

1. On 9/2 UNC is unranked but 28th in received votes at 3-0-0
2. UNC loses to CoC on 9/1 (loss after poll results closed 8/31), ties #5 NCSU but is outplayed getting doubled on shots and SOG
3. On 9/9 UNC moves up 7 spots to 21st in the poll at 3-1-1
4. UNC ties then #4 WF, but completely outplays them nearly doubling their shots. This was their only game of the week.
5. on 9/16 (today) UNC drops out of the poll, falling to 35th in received votes at 3-1-2. Wake Forest moves to #1 in the poll on a ho-hum 1-0 victory over weakling Campbell and an anemic 1-1 tie with UNC, and NCSU is now #2 in the poll.

I realize any ordinal ranking sometimes has perhaps more to do with how other teams perform to move up and down than it does your own performance, but these swings are extreme. Are the same coaches voting each week? Does it involve a blindfold?
