I am not going to complain about earning a home game but I thought unseeded teams were supposed to be placed with distance as the priority? Isn't that what happened in the Women's tourney?
Yet we have:
- North Florida (RPI 50 - ASUN) @ UNC (RPI 28 - ACC) with the winner going to #4 Maryland (RPI 7 - B1G)
- St John's (RPI 42 - Big East) @ WVU (RPI 21 - Big XII) with the winner going to #10 High Point (RPI 11 - Big South)
Shouldn't we be in High Point's bracket and St John/WVU in Maryland's bracket?
And it has nothing to do with the next opponent: Both likely face a quarterfinal against a seeded Big East team.
they have dook going to Princeton, so same fixable issue there (insert University of South New Jersey joke here.)
all 4 seeded ACC teams are arranged to face each other at the round of 16, which should limit the number of ACC teams able to make it to the quarterfinal to two unless one of dook, Clemson, UNC, cuse, or ND can eliminate two top 16 opponents in their round 2 and 3 games.
