Aragona loses 15-4 to Keegan O'Toole, who was the 3rd ranked 145 this past season. O'toole head to Mizzou.

No it was ...take that creedo
Hardly think that 15 second pin makes up for the other losses he took. Definitely not seeing anything that would say our current class of undergrads will be impact wrestlers.Suriano is our lone shining star. But suriano would be an NCAA champion anywhere.

RUCrackers I understand your sentiments. So what do you suggest we do with the wrestlers we have now? Get rid of them.I think if we are going to put these things out there about the wrestlers lack of heart and performance. You should provide solutions to the problem.Glasgow might not be even an issue any more, as he is probably on his way out.

What do you suggest the coaches do to help improve consistency for the next season?
I don't think we should get rid of any of the wrestlers. That's not the solution. It all comes down to guiding the wrestlers properly, determination and heart. The coaches are not the problem. Look at guys like Theobold, Perrotti, and Delvecchio. Certainly not Blue Chip recruit, by a top 3 standard. But they had that certain fire and drive that got them to the podium. I don't see that with this group of current wrestlers and incoming recruits( except for aragona). I bet the house on it that will only have three qualifiers this next year, with only one All American in suriano. I think three qualifiers is pushing it too

Theobold was an All American his Redshirt Senior year.
Delvecchio was an All American his Redshirt Senior year.
Perrotti was a 2 time All American during his Redshirt Junior/Senior Years.

I think it is still premature to say they lack heart & performance.A couple of the wrestlers we have now can still be All Americans before they graduate.I am certainly optimistic so should you. Aragona still has to prove himself he can beat Lipari & Firestone for the starting spot. Many of us where high on Glasgow before coming into Rutgers. As we can see it was a disappointing season with a rash of injuries.Kudos to those wrestlers you mentioned who were able to withstand a high threshold of pain to win.Unfortunately everyone is not built the same.I personally was not able to compete with a knee injury which lead to my coaches shutting me down.

I agree with you -we are looking probably at most 3 NCAA qualifies and Suriano hopefully repeating.I think with the new training facility and a strong offseason will help our wrestlers. They all need to train hard all Spring leading into the fall.Change their overall mindset focusing on championship goals. The coaches do have a lot do with it.They just cant accept the glory only but take responsibilities for the failures. We need an aggressive off season workout to develop our current wrestlers in achieving our goals.

Where is at most 3 coming from? NS, Lipari, MVB, Glasgow, Grello, Janzer, Correnti, Colucci. No I’m not saying all 8 qualify, but we can certainly have more than 3. AND that’s ignoring our stud freshman (Jojo) and another very solid freshman in Kanniard. Hopefully they can both RS. That’s ALSO ignoring guys that haven’t shown much yet, but have an outside shot of turning things up a notch and qualifying (Aguilar, Metzler, Benner, Robinson if NS takes an Olympic RS). That’s ALSO assuming we don’t get a transfer (Sutton). So yeah, maybe we qualify 3 or less, but I’d put my money on 4 or more.

Going back to your earlier comment that Glasgow is probably on his way out. How do you throw that out there and than not answer anyone’s questions on this or explain further?

Yea I’d like to hear what he has to say as well ..I said all last year that that injury was used as a prop every time he lost ..I had my doubts as to what the issue was ..I know what I saw early on and never elaborated on it because I was hoping I was wrong but would not be a shocker to me if he doesn’t come back .

I would like an explanation of this as well. It's like he came out of left field cold cocked us with this one and ran off. How about it @RutgersAlum? Just a gut feeling or inside info?

Here is Glasgow wrestling in the finals of the NJ Championship his senior year. A big wrap on his knee then as well, which I had forgotten. Same knee? The kid has had some bad luck with injuries:

I’ll take five out of this group NS, Lipari or Aragona, Glasgow, Grello, Janzer or Scott, Correnti or Pag, Colucci. I certainly don’t expect anyone to AA other than Nick. I do believe a few of the guys can win a couple of matches at Ncaa’s. I wouldn’t give up on this group yet!

We have 4 past National qualifiers returning
NS
PL
JG
MC (Correnti qualified as a freshman)

Collucci, Janzer/Scott should make 5 maybe 6 qualifiers.
I am hoping Aragona red shirts, but if he wants to wrestle, let him.

How is firestone? Can he challenge at 141? Does MVB take a step at 149?

Can I take the over on 3 national Qualifiers?
I would set the over/under at 5

MVB ?....so you guys seem to be writing him off ...the kid is ripped right now and would love to have seen how he woulda done at his natural weight instead of sucking down to 141 ...that was unfortunate but this year he will go at his natural weight ..hell it might even be 157 for all we know ..way too much talent to write him off in my opinion

What does this mean? The coaches don't coach them to be passive. They preach offense and aggression.

It is my opinion he is on his way out based on how the season was handled.A couple of rumblings from multiple folks.Let's just see how it all plays out with the hope he stays working towards a podium finish.

This was his junior year.I think he wrestled Griffith his senior year.Injuries come as part of the sport, it is just unfortunate this kid has had one to many.

FYI: I personally spoke to Stephan at the Athletic Scholarship reception and that’s not the impression I got at all. He’s adjusting to the grind of his first year of being a D-1 student-athlete, who had surgery.

Go RU!

I am sure the coaches train them to be offensive & aggressive. We need to shake things up with our current wrestlers maximizing their abilities.

Here we go again lol...being a MVB fan makes me a family member....I saw him and Firestone wrestle all through high school ..I know what pedigree they have ..MVB sucking all that weight hurt him ..plain and simple ..now being able to go at his natural weight will be interesting to see ....you guys are lining up lineups without him in it so let’s see next year if he gets back to where he was before going down to 141...he beat some tough cookies two years ago at 141 and 149 later that summer and the talent is there ..Zack has a tough road with NS and PL blocking him so-not sure where he fits in ....knock me for being a fan ..that’s just fine I can take it ..

Sorry, but I have to agree with the others. You're taking the comments about the vanbrills way too personal and defending yourself vehemently. That absolutely is a clear indicator that you are somehow either connected, close friends or a family member of them. Getting back to Bill's comment about Glasgow and this being new news to to Goodale. We had the same situation with campolattano. Goody was praising the kid on the internet, and Campo was spewing off that he didn't just want to be an All-American he wanted to be a national champ, but like Glasgow we saw defeat in his eyes. The way he looked on the mat shows a clear indication that it's only a matter of time that his career is going to be over. Bash me if you will, but I've been around wrestling for almost 35 years and I've seen it all. I know that look from my own teammates in high school and college, kids I've coached, and just wrestlers in general. It's a look of frustration , basically saying I'm doing this to save my pride but I really don't want to do it anymore. SGs heart is not into it. It's actually sad as a fan of his to see him like this, because I was super stoked when I found out we signed him. I will give the benefit of the doubt to what others who are allegedly close to the program say about him being ready to go for next year, but if I was a betting man I put my house on it that he won't make it through next season.

The look I saw from him in watching the matches was someone who was frustrated that he was wrestling up a weight and clearly hurt. I know some or someone on here doesn't like when that is brought up and says to stop using it as an excuse, but no one is going to convince me that he was anywhere even close to 100% last year. What I saw in him was someone clearly frustrated knowing he was much better than what he was showing, rather than someone who was close to giving up

This is total BS and shows your anti-Goodale and anti-Rutgers agenda. Campo didn't work hard at tOSU and got mixed up with the wrong crowd. We gave him a second chance and he didn't work hard here either. Don't give me this BS that we were just coaching him to be an AA and not a national champ. He underperformed for Tom Ryan because HE didn't put in the work. Was Tom Ryan also only pushing him to be an AA and not a national champ?
