Folks not so fast in my Lee Corso voice, The Eagles are a very good team that has the weapons and coaching to beat Sussex, they have a qb with a big arm and receivers who attack the ball especially #25 ( jump ball specialist). If ever inside the 30 they will throw the jump ball pass into the end zone on a post corner route to #25. They also possess very good team speed on the perimeters ( watch for the bubble screen / hitch) . On defense I expect them to blitz heavy ( sell out). They have a young coach who showed last week he could make adjustments and motivate his troops versus Colonial Beach, any many ways he reminds of a young Coach Jefferson when he took over the helm at Sussex from the legendary Dwight Reagan. I’m quite sure a trick play or 2 has been added to the Eagles call sheet this week.

Will Sussex prevent a Northern Neck Holiday regional tournament ? Remember The Tigers are still the Rodney Dangerfield of Region A ( no respect no respect I tell ya)

I see you’re still milking that “Rodney Dangerfield” line for all its worth. Lol. What’s funny is you are the one that’s been calling them that since early in the year. No other poster that I can think of has called or thought of Sussex in that way. Posters have overwhelmingly been picking Sussex weekly in their games but you STILL come on here talking “no respect”. C’mon MAN!!!!!:)

Yeah, it’s gotten old. No other Sussex fans seem to feel that way. The team finished 2nd in the 1a state poll posted on this site and finished as a top 2 seed in Region A. Not one person picked against Sussex so far in the weekly pick’em for this week.

So where is this coming from? Everyone seems to respect the Sussex program. This person is certainly next t speaking for any other fans or anyone involved with the current team.

Trust me SCHSTiger...We posters know who’s keeping that Dangerfield thing going. Lol. We don’t hold that against the rest of the Tiger fan base.

I can read between words many of you take jabs undercover , I have a right to my opinion , for instant even after beating Essex ( No respect) After beat Colonial Beach ( no respect), deep down inside I know the Northern Neck wants to claim being the best Region and that’s ok I read your post about that but I fully respect that 100% so when I support the Sussex program dont bash me for doing so. I speak the truth again what is so wrong with my post ?

The northern neck is the best district. Sussex may very well be the best team but the NND had 4 teams in the playoffs and 3 in the 2nd round.
Tidewater had 2 teams in, both lost round 1. Eastern shore had 1 team in, lost in round 1.
Trd has sussex still in.

I have given the NN district nothing but praise , the numbers don’t lie hands down the district is strong But other than Essex how many games do teams play up versus 2a & 3a schools ? The Tri- Rivers district in my opinion is way more competitive.

I really am not being disrespectful, but comparing the NND to the Tri-Rivers is comparing apples to oranges. You simply can’t say that the NND is the best district when teams like Sussex and Franklin must play two 2a schools and two 3a schools within their own district. That is 4 games annually against the schools that have 200-400 more students.

This is in no way a commentary on how good a team like Essex is and has been for a long time. However, there is likely a playoff teams from the NND who would not have made the playoffs if they played in the Tri-Rivers.

So comparing the two districts isn’t really fair.

I know this is probably the first time W&L hasn't played up because usually we play Spotsylvania 3A and King George 4A every year along with a few years ago W&L played 6A Cosby. Essex would play Caroline 3A and even more recently 4A Glen Allen, 3A Thomas Jefferson. I would say that's some stiff competition or just as competitive as the Tidewater

I completely agree that the games you mentioned are tough opponents in higher classifications, but that was the point I responded to originally. The point is that the Tr-Rivers district includes 4 schools that are higher than 1a. Sussex, for instance, has to play them every year. So it’s not a matter of just playing up in a non-conference game. This was about the fact that you can’t really compare the NND and the Tri-Rivers district.

I can't remember at any point where W&L played Cosby? Maybe the 2006-2008 era?

I say if sussex comes out and doesnt hit them in the mouth theyll go home with a L so i suggest they play for all 4 quaters

Sussex will definitely have to play hard and discipline for 4 quarters. This time of year everyone is hungry! The team that want it more and display it by executing will go on to the next round!

@peck_7 we played them in 2006, it was a one time thing as it was their first year as a new school. We lost 14-6

@Vsu95 i was surprised KG wasn’t on the schedule this year seeing how they’re a long time rival

@peck_7 yeah that was the year, I remember I was at that game. I think the King George thing might have been to make a smoother transition because no first year coach wants to see that situation like it has been the past couple times I think was lopsided victories for KG.
