Coming up with a dunk and getting a dunk are not the same. It was the right call. Curry had Texas number the entire game offensively. Why he stopped short and decided on a jumper I have no idea. But I guarantee it was not drawn up that way.
Who was he going to kick it out to? Texas wasn't going to help off of Sherman or McNeil. It would have been more sensible to put the ball in Sherman's hands because then he would/could have forced help from off another player. Not to mention, the refs aren't going to call any fouls in the final seconds unless blood is flowing. Especially in the Big 12.
So they were guarding them one on one. Sherman can make a shot in the face of anyone. Texas had 3 guys in the lane because they knew what was coming WVU also had 2 in the lane for a miss and tip in which rarely happens. It was a crowded mess. Curry had made that shot and or was fouled all night. If it goes in you would be saying good call. The refs had called 60 fouls they would have called another.
