Averaged over 12 points a game last two seasons. How many did you average Ding Dong?Hopefully he finds a situation where he gets nothing but clean looks with 2 or more seconds to set and shoot for a great last year of college ball. He was just not cut out for Big 12 play as seen by this year when he was expected to be the second best scorer on the team making the opposing defense focused on him as such. I thought his improvement at the end of 2021 would translate to a great 2020 year, but instead he ended up worse than role-player Ruoff or Mitchell from past years.
Couldn't guard a sack of potatoes. Did more standing around than shooting. Streaky shooter afraid to pull the trigger on most evenings. Good luck at your next stop which is probably Nevada.
I'm still blown away by Bridges. Huggins bragged more on him than any player on the roster. He's a WV boy. WVU gave him a scholarship instead of the original deal of going to prep school. And for him to enter the portal.........confusing.Sums it up nicely. Despite his 12 points per game this year he wasn't the scorer WVU needed him to be, he never showed up when the heat was on like last year (although last year defenses were more preoccupied with Culver and McBride), and gave up as much as he put up on the scoreboard.
Not bad player, just not capable of being one of of the central members of a competitive Big 12 team. With the roster in its current shape after Bridges and Cotrell left, WVU is better off taking as many chances as possible of finding a Mike Gansey in transfer or recruit than keeping a marginally useful player.
There is no school loyalty from today's pampered pussies who bounce a ball.I'm still blown away by Bridges. Huggins bragged more on him than any player on the roster. He's a WV boy. Thanks to NIL everyone believes they can find that pot of gold. Not everyone is going to get the same kind of deal like an Oscar did. There is no school loyalty from today's pampered pussies who bounce a ball.
I don't think that NIL has anything to do with our basketball players leaving. Unless they are getting it from septic and sewer companies, or brick laying companies. Just saying. Thanks to NIL everyone believes they can find that pot of gold. Not everyone is going to get the same kind of deal like an Oscar did.

You know about as much as for their reasons as I do. You can speculate, too.Keep believing that if it makes you feel good.
They think they will get one that makes them rich.

Funny that the clowns whining about college athletics don't think its destroyed when coaches are making $7 million a year and up off the backs of the players earning the money and ADs are getting $100,000 bonuses when athletes win championships and get $0 from it. Wonder why?
The schools are still making millions as are the coaches, ADs etc. and aren't sending anything but about 8% of the value each football or basketball player bring back to them in the form of scholarships (which are paper compensation only anyway).
Ending the corrupt blockage of players being able to make their own money from whatever legal source they can isn't the problem with college athletics and never has been.

There's a simple fix to this. Make the athletes decide the following options:I'm with you as long as....you also say that almost all college athletes other than football and men's basketball players were already getting more compensation than they are bringing in with just the scholarship and room & board they were getting before NIL became a thing.
If the ethic is to compensate people proportional to what they're bringing in then let's pay football and men's basketball players more and the other college athletes less.
There's a simple fix to this. Make the athletes decide the following options:
1. Take a scholarship and forfeit any rights to making NIL money.
OR
2. Refuse the scholarship, walk-on to the team, and take a gamble at making more NIL money than the scholarship, room and board, meals, etc.
Put the decision and critical analysis back on the recruits/players and their families.
If they attend WVU (or any college), then they ARE being "compensated". Most will say these athletes aren't there for the degree/education, then don't enroll. That simple. But my kid has a 4.0 GPA and a 30 on the ACT. And will not receive the same financial incentive to attend WVU (or any college) as a kid with less academic credentials than this. So I don't buy the argument of players not being compensated. Regular American families are paying out $20,000-$100,000 for their kids (with good grades and ACT/SAT scores) to attend college. These football/basketball players are getting it for free. I don't shed any tears for their "financial slavery" claims. Not sure why there needs to be any barriers for anything. We are the only country in the world that has this archaic system of utilizing our universities as sports teams and capping earning potential of our young athletes. If the system was never arbitrarily put into place 100 or so years ago, you wouldn’t have an issue, you just don’t like change.
There will be no college sports in the future like there is now. Possibly 32 to 40 teams tops. Not sure why there needs to be any barriers for anything. EDIT: I will add that I'm all for them receiving money. But when they do, make it like I said...a CHOICE: Scholarship with everything paid for OR receive money and then pay for your education, room and board, meals, etc.

Uconn only one really?Lol doubtful. There is what, 1000 or so Athletic departments from D1 down through JUCO, and most operate in the red. NIL or transfer rules aren’t the straw that’s breaking the camel’s back. The only school who has even flirted with the idea of folding a D1 football program is UConn, but even they seem hell bent to keep trotting a team out there despite astronomical sunk costs, a conference Armageddon scenario for them, no fans, and no hopes of bettering their recruitment.
Uconn only one really?
The UAB football program was terminated after the 2014 season but was reinstated shortly thereafter. The team went on hiatus for two seasons before returning in 2017. UAB won both its first conference championship and bowl game in program history in 2018.
There will be the mega teams in a mega conference. The rest will fight among themselves for 2 year players that hope to move up. Their games will be internet and Big guys tv deals.Forgot UAB, but despite crossing the line to actually fold, even they somehow deemed it necessary to restart the program because… reasons. If they’re going to play, I’ll watch, but let’s not pretend if Joe Fan’s interest drops in a significant way it will change things, it’s not as if losing money has stopped programs from existing before.
They receive compensation. It's called FREE classes, FREE room, FREE meals, FREE health services, FREE tutors. If they want financial compensation, then don't take the scholarship and use the NIL money to pay for all those things that non-athlete students or walk-ons have to pay for.It costs the University nothing to allow them to earn outside compensation, additionally, academic scholars have no such restrictions to earn other forms of compensation. You are advocating for a special set of restrictions because you the fan, an unrelated party, doesn’t like the idea of them making money. It’s wrong and frankly unamerican.
You also act as if being a D1 athlete consists of strictly what you see on TV. Athletes in all sports must commit to a strict 20+ hours per week for practice, conditioning, travel, including the off-season, and games on top of the hours required to attend classes and study or risk losing their place in the program. So if that work they put in garners them some attention, you think it’s wrong to cash in?

Again, I'm all for them making money. Make as much as you want. That's great. But when some of them finish in their 4-5 years at the university, they will have been awarded $100,000-$300,000 in compensation, PLUS a degree.
If you see this NIL system as "fair" between colleges, you are blind. Teams like WVU will never be able to have the NIL deals that other teams can. For the third time, I'm all for them making money. Just make them pay for their FREE ride that ALLOWS them to gain the financial gains. If it wasn't for the universities, these players wouldn't have their NIL.The University opts to compensate them that way. Not sure why that option means they cannot do endorsement deals, you have yet to present an argument as to why that shouldn’t be allowed other than you feel it’s wrong. The NFL gives them millions and they can still moonlight as a commercial actor and get paid more money, why is that wrong for college kids to do?
You say you’re all for them making as much money as they want in one breath and then in the next say “so long as it’s less than $100-$300k”… lol wtf

The old system was broken and the new system is worse. It rewards the top 1% and the rest get **** on.Funny that the clowns whining about college athletics don't think its destroyed when coaches are making $7 million a year and up off the backs of the players earning the money and ADs are getting $100,000 bonuses when athletes win championships and get $0 from it. Villanova also keeps losing players as well. Even after a title. Some are their Stars some with less playing time. Lucky for them it stays one star a year sometimes 2 so far.Keep scapegoating NIL, nevermind that small private schools like Villanova keep racking up Final Fours even though they were not too long ago a peer program in the same conference, while we seemingly don’t even have enough scholarship players to field a starting 5 at the moment.

2021-2022 Villanova transfers sitting out is forward Cole Swide.
Dylan Painter left Villanova without bitterness. He was not disgruntled.
