--Neal Brown was pissed how they played in the first half and put themselves in a hole that they struggled to compete. They have to score touchdowns in the red zone, and they weren’t good enough on the last defensive drive. The first half was inexcusable.
--Texas Tech did a good job and made some plays down the field on offense in the first half and they had a better energy level than West Virginia.
--West Virginia had the wrong personnel grouping in on the second timeout. That was his fault. They should have scored a touchdown on the last drive and didn’t. He’s pissed about that. They played well offensively in the second half, and they needed to score a touchdown.
--Brown thought about going for it on 4th and 2 down 20-17. But they pinned them back and Texas Tech was able to drive the field and score.
--Brown said he’s fine with people getting pissed at him. Doege played well in the second half and there might have been one or two they wanted to have back, and he gave them a chance.
--Strategy piece he took the timeout because you make them have to think. They’ve been good enough and were close to blocking a kick, so he felt it was the better way to go. If they let them score you need to let them have a 1:30 left. You try to get the ball in the middle of the field and throw a ball to the end zone.
--There was not a phase that played well in the first half of the game. They did better in the second half and they competed. Offensively, they played much better in the second half, and they had a couple bad holding penalties.
--Wyatt Milum had a good week in practice and earned the start, but he was not full speed.
--The starting of the game caught him off guard. They practiced well Tuesday and Wednesday, but that effort was not good enough. What they put out there in the first half isn’t good enough.
