After last year's fiasco, 8-12 seems like it might be a stretch but who knows. The BE looks like it will be in for a down year, but I don't see how we could possibly take advantage of it with this roster. 5-15 will be my guess, please prove me wrong!

I can’t even wager a guess. With the wholesale roster changes it’s impossible to really keep up with each team. And with zero information/access on SHU I expect the worst and hope we are better. Are these new players better? What will chemistry look like?

Somewhere between 4-16 and 8-12. We are picked for last for a reason.

I guess Butler twice, X once, DP once and an upset win over someone sleeping on us.
With these whole-sale roster changes in the conference and our roster filled with question marks, things are not looking to bright.

This was the correct answer last year, this is the correct answer this year, this will be the correct answer every year in the future.

Well then if we do not feel like we have enough info to speculate then I will revisit this question after next weekend's workout viewing.

DePaul might be better than many believe.
Chris Holtman is a better coach than who DePaul has had recently. I heard a DePaul guy on one of the Big East energy podcasts a few weeks back and he was bullish on the team and their expectations this season.

No offense Dan, but that’s not going to move the needle on predictions. An internal practice with 10 new players? You have a good eye, but….

It's hard to predict anything with a cast of unknowns.

One thing I can predict based on what little I do know is I won't be surprised if we go winless on the road again this year.

It's tough enough to win on the road in this league (see UConn at the Prudential Center). It's much harder to do so if you're not very good.

I projected in another thread about 7-13. I am on the same page as Halldan with a 2-6 start. Three of our Marquee Home games are in that first batch of games which is a bit unusual. Hopefully, those games will inspire the fanbase. After that the schedule softens a bit. It is very difficult to gauge what this year's team will look like. As a Hall and Giant fan, I'm just waiting for both to bottom out. Maybe this is the year.

Plus, I have no idea what any other BE roster looks like.

I barely have an idea about who is on our roster.

So how can I possibly decide if we are going to split with Nova or not?

Guys, you know this is just speculation. Simply messageboard fodder.

No one is coming back in March to critique your opinions.

Multiple magazines are out profiling the conference and the individual teams. As are social media posts from a variety of BB experts. Links I have been posting here. They have similar access to the information we have.

Well given all the information that is out there, we are predicted to finish 10th in the Big East. That would likely be between 4-6 wins.

Actually 11th. But those profiles have little accuracy if we believe as so many do that half the teams or more in the league have mostly new rosters. That's why this is just mere conjecture and a fun way of discussing SHU basketball while we wait to see the team.

“Fun” predicting how many wins a projected 10th or last place team will win? lol

Based on everything I’ve read about the incoming players for our squad and others, and how Sha stacks in comparison to other league coaches, I can us finishing anywhere from last to 7th in the Big East.

I don’t think we finish ahead of Uconn, SJU, Creighton, Marquette, and two of the others who emerge, whether it be Gtown, Providence.

Also if we are going to be decent we better clean up the OOC. I think the OOC is weak-mediocre under the best circumstances and if things don’t break right in Maui could be the former. Which means we should crush it if the expectations are 7/8 wins in the league.

It’s a reflection of the apathy we as fans have for the program. Who are these players and why should I care if most won’t be around next year? I understand you are trying to gin up interest in the upcoming year but it’s real hard to care that much. I’m sure I’m not the only one who feels that way.

Yet you're here months before the season begins. Which is my purpose helping out JD run the site. I am spending much more time here than I want to because JD has time constraints and dealing with the incredible negativism here is brutal.

I know for a fact that this site had lost many past members and readers because they are sick and tired of reading that we stink. And truthfully, I don't blame them. Who wants to come to a fan site and read what is being posted by a good deal of our posters.

Not asking for cheerleaders and I understand where a lot of you are coming from. But if this continues you won't see much more of me if everything I try to post is met with what is happening on this thread. Not worth my time.

Good point. It's really a slap in the face that we have not had a detailed article done by a reporter who has seen these players in practice. Sha started this ******** last year and has doubled down on the strategy this season. It's an absolute joke that Carino and Rothstein are banned from stopping by practice or to have an interview with Sha.

We constantly read about St.John's and Rutgers and read and see their HCs in the Spring and Summer. We saw one half-*** phone interview from Sha with Zagoria after Carino went nuclear on his podcast about lack of access.

To date, Sha has not shown he's learned anything from his time at SH which has led us to this low point after a decade of relevance. In his mind, he blames all his problems on others - the new rules, the lack of funding, today's players only being motivated by money, the media, the fans. He shuts down any possibility that he needs to add some type of Front Office structure.

There is a direct correlation to the lack of season ticket sales and the apathy among even the most devout fans to Sha's actions. You can't bring in 10+ players every year and not talk to your fanbase from April til October then expect them to blindly support you during the season.

Dan, I am going to respectfully disagree here. We have always had a mixed bag spectrum of posters…from overly positive to overly negative, and every flavor in between. We have lost posters because:
- On3 has been a disaster,
- Sha being an impediment from providing any access to the team or coaches,
- An administration that takes fans like us for granted. The Felt interview was a joke.

It’s up to JD to make this site a community that fans want to visit. If he has competing priorities or can’t make that happen maybe he’s not the guy.

I can appreciate you wanting to make things interesting but predicting a record with zero inside information and only left with what’s out on the internet that picks us for last….what do you expect?

I’m done with The Trove and it nothing to do with negativity.

Sha is a disaster in every respect as a coach. But he has a lot of buddies looking out for him at the good 'ole boys club in South Orange and many on this board too.
