Huge game tomorrow

SJU at UConn.

Game's at Connecticut, but St John's is playing better.

The two best teams and the two best coaches. I'll go with Hurley here, but it will be a barnburner.

Hate to say it, hope I am wrong, but I think SJ is gonna beat them up. Not a rout, but not the game we hope to see.

SJU has been behind often in the second half of games, and it seems most every time they comeback to win.

If it goes to the last half minute in a one possession game hard to bet against SJU.

UCONN by 8-10. They need this game. St John's has beaten them 3 times in a row now.

Could Butler beating Nova help our NET and resume? I fear it can help a bit but also weaken cause it will make Nova look a bit worse?

Also looking at projected tournament seeding, realize it's Creighton again and having most likely UCONN next round.

If we split Uconn and St johns , beat Xavier, and beat Creighton in quarterfinals of BE tournament, and pose to UCONN in semifinals is that enough to get a decent shot at a selection?

Still, team should focus on reaching the final no matter what. If we actually make the final with a win against either UCONN and St Johns in conference play, it might be enough to get an at large bid. If UCONN was our first ranked win though, we probably have to win the whole thing, but maybe this is the magic Sha was waiting to show. To be fair, he got St. Peters in 2021 through a late push for the tourney. This is different but this is his chance as a vocal critic to prove he is the coach for the future.

The way UConn played today they could beat us in their sleep. Hopefully they become too overconfident for Saturday. You know Danny is going to bring them down to earth tomorrow, say all the nice things he said about us in the 1st games press conference and try to convince them nobody plays harder than Seton Hall. Maybe they won’t listen.

UConn has a conference regular season title and a #1 seed in the NCAA's to play for. I'd be stunned if they weren't ready to play. Lose at home to Seton Hall and they can likely kiss both goodbye.

IMO this does one thing. Nearly eliminates Pitino for COY. Nearly, but not definitely.

If Willard can beat SJU this weekend that just about locks up COY for him with Hurley second.

From a psychological standpoint, this was probably the best result for Seton Hall. It's just human nature for the Huskies to take the Pirates lightly on Saturday after that beatdown of St. John's (the first place team on a 13-game winning streak). I'm sure it was a game UConn had circled on their calendars since their loss on February 6. Let them feel themselves for a couple of days.

Bottom line now is that Seton Hall will have NO excuses for a no-show on Saturday. With a full week of rest, they are in the best position they could have been in coming into the biggest game of the year.

I hope you are right; I actually felt the opposite coming in; I felt that if UConn lost, they would have very little to play for Saturday, and that might have them certainly off of their "A" game...or maybe even their "B" game.

Now, I cannot see Danny letting them look past this game...not with a conference title back in their sights, with an NCAA seed opportunity...and with the way Tarris manhandled the Johnnies...his confidence right now looks off the charts.

I hope I am wrong...really wrong...but I think they come out hungry for more.

I saw where they are actually a 2 seed and I can't see how this can change anywhere but down. They have little chance to move up to a 1 unless some of the other top ranked teams stumble bigly.
