I'm not one of them. I played college football at Rutgers. He has been held back or his choice because every game he had great opportunities to do exactly what he did today
I think it was watching last weeks and even teh Wisconsin game film. GW had to see all the yards waiting there for him.

Playcalling helped.. they finally called the playfake bootleg.. about time. With the Big Ten's leading rusher and defenses knowing we want to run.. I wondered how many time do we have to see teh bootleg open to call it? I think we waited way too long in teh season and even way too long in this game... but we did call it.. which is great. I'd rather see the boot called more than the wildcat-like QB run with Monangai blocking.. which is good.. but the boot does so much more in keeping the D honest.

And then you saw a sense of urgency when he decided to flee the pocket.. in the past it was like all he wanted to do was escape to make room to throw it away.

All that said.. GW had EVEN MORE YARDS for the taking had he not committed too early to diving forward.. like on that failed 4th down run. But GW is definitely running in the right direction.

What a horrible take. You're way off on this one. Anyone who can make an NFL squad and stay in the league for 8 years doesn't suck.
I think he meant his career here. I wouldn’t say be sucked, but he had some rough moments and it seemed every year there was a QB controversy . He wasn’t great. He had a better NFL career than college career

The guy ranks as one of the top QB's in Rutgers history. 4th in TD's, 5th in completions, 6th in passing yards. Guy also rushed for 15 TD's. But he sucks? Is that why Rutgers inducted him into their Hall of Fame?

Can you read ? I didn’t say he “sucks “
I just mention facts :
1. Every year he was here there was a QB controversy.
2. His senior year was disappointing and resulted in the coach getting fired
3. His nfl career was better than his rutgers career
4. Fanbase was not in love with him. We booed him very badly when he came back into the game against Syracuse in 95, everyone wanted him benched .
5. Grunniger is in the hall of fame

He didn’t “suck” and I didn’t say he did

What a bearish community...detox and cleanse yourself of the negative energy. Its almost like you guys are upset about winning because it's hindering your ability to complain about QB play. It's not Simon any more now it's aj surce who will come in as a freshman and be better than wimsatt as a 4th year junior coming off a bowl game....let's hope Gavin can put this to bed by the end of the year..would love to see the posts after he puts it all together..
Ok you're happy with a QB that throws for 39 ypg and sets a record rushing by a having an 85 yard run. I hope those stats win us many games. But I have my doubts.

While I get your point, the timing sucks.. attitude as well. We have a few too many drops today. But we won.. somewhat comfortably. GW has lead us to a bowl game.

Think you can wait until he loses us a game to inundate us with your facts? Will you ever forgive him for leading us to a bowl game in Schiano's 4th year? I suspect many here never will.

Lucas sucked. I love all the revisionist history but Graber kept looking for another quarterback
OMG please educate yourself and look at Ray Lucas' "sucky" stats versus Gavin "The Best RU QB EVER" Wimsatt's stats. Gavin only needs another 4000 yards passing to catch Ray Lucas, though he may eventually rack up the 8 rushing TDs to catch Ray. 31 more TDs may be a bit of an ask, given Gavin's lights-out passing production. Maybe he can get another 5 years of eligibility and make it a chase...

Is it really? So wrong. Would 7-12 for 60 make u feel better cuz there were two drops. Lol.
Now admittedly I'm no Lombardi, but I think 60 ypg isn't going to win much. But maybe you're right. Historically how many winning FB teams throw for 60 ypg?

I just pointed out getting a boner over a QB who runs for 140 while ignoring 39 yards passing seems a bit like stretching for good news.

Original.

Your come backs are about as poor as your post...

wait I take that back...

your come back was better than your post becase at least you had the sense to copy that from somebody, whereas your post was straight from your brain.
I bet that sounded better in your head.

Gavin throws for 60ypg?

I mean he doesn't but even if he did and we win who f*cking cares?

And another thing, seeing as I'm the designated Bad Guy in this thread, 143 yards rushing for a QB for a single game record seems surprisingly low

We've been playing for 150+ years and that's the record? We played games before the forward pass was legal. We played during the Wing T years. We specifically ran the wildcat as a primary O design for a couple of years.

And 143 is the record? I mean nice for Gavin but 143 seems pretty lame for RU FB.

Around the B1G yesterday:

Minnesota 10/25 for 126 yards in the victory, that has to be because he bested Iowa's QB, 10/28 for 116 yds

Nebraska QB 8/17 for 85 yards beat NW, whose QB 12 12/23 for 176 yds. Did NW celebrate because their QB threw twice as many yards passing?

The funny thing about his “sucks” post was that he was responding to a poster who was only trying to guess which RU QB’s record was broken by GW. No one was debating what past QBs were better or worse.

LOL. Bro you know who I am, I've been here a long time. I tend to not be a poylanna.

You get this emotional because I ask a question about a rushing record? Take a deep breath.

Where is my point wrong? You really think a 143 yards rushing record for a QB in a program that has played over 150 years isn't a little low?

Don't feel sorry. I feel pretty good about myself, but thanks.

Complaining about passing yards after a 17 point conference win on the road is hilarious.

Does Gavin need to improve accuracy? Yes... Should that lessen the victory today? Not even a little.

I didn't suggest we shouldn't be proud of big in conference road win. Please show me where I did. Work on your reading comprehension.

No wonder this program is mired in mediocrity with fans like you.

How's that going to work for you against a better team?
Every game has a different game plan...you mean OSU, PSU and Michigan? No this team isn't a top 5 team in the nation so no they won't be able to compete with those teams playing like this.. hopefully they are a top 5 team next year or maybe they will pull off an upset this year but you guys sound ridiculous when you try to discredit the kid by anticipating the team won't be able to do something they've never been able to do..

You have to give him a chance to develop. He can improve. He is still only 19 and with a new OC. Last year, the offense was a mess with Gleeson and Nunzio. It is hard to develop any QB like that.

Hey I thought I was a troll? Now you want to engage?

Can you repost that gibberish with a response that makes sense?

The point here is 143 yards is really low for a team with our history along with we should be concerned our record setting QB (143??!!) who is depended on to throw the ball only threw for 39 yards in a DIV I football game against a ****** team - which a bunch of fanyboys here are trying very hard to overlook.

I made my OP because I think it's important.
