I think it was watching last weeks and even teh Wisconsin game film. GW had to see all the yards waiting there for him.I'm not one of them. I played college football at Rutgers. He has been held back or his choice because every game he had great opportunities to do exactly what he did today
Playcalling helped.. they finally called the playfake bootleg.. about time. With the Big Ten's leading rusher and defenses knowing we want to run.. I wondered how many time do we have to see teh bootleg open to call it? I think we waited way too long in teh season and even way too long in this game... but we did call it.. which is great. I'd rather see the boot called more than the wildcat-like QB run with Monangai blocking.. which is good.. but the boot does so much more in keeping the D honest.
And then you saw a sense of urgency when he decided to flee the pocket.. in the past it was like all he wanted to do was escape to make room to throw it away.
All that said.. GW had EVEN MORE YARDS for the taking had he not committed too early to diving forward.. like on that failed 4th down run. But GW is definitely running in the right direction.
