Let's all gather our pitchforks and demonize 18-19 year old kids who feel like it's in their best interest to transfer from a school that you all have repeatedly referred to as "a dumpster fire" and "the laughingstock of college basketball". Some of the same ones who were bitching about the Rick Ray hire are now chastising Hood for transferring, even after acknowledging that we won't have a lot of talent next year. Unbelievable. Good luck Rodney. Wish you would have stayed, but everyone should do what's in their best interests. As for the rest of you, get a grip.

secondary, at least IMO...........It's a dumpster fire simply because of players like Hood, who while in all honesty appears to be a decentkid, he has no loyalty.......His loyalty is simply to himself and no one else..........

Definition of committment: an obligation, promise, etc. that restricts one's freedom of action

Fans have the right to ***** when ever they want. Hell they buy the tickets and support the program. I did my time at state and graduated and have bought a lot of tickets over the years and I have the right to ***** about anyone I want when I want.

Schools offer 1-year scholarships for sports that are renewed on a year to year basis. Around the country, kids frequently have their scholarships cut when they don't pan out, and the program reinvests in someone more talented. If Hood thinks he has a better opportunity somewhere else, I cannot hate him for acting in his own best interests. Plus, he's a 19 year old kid. Grow the 17 up. Or am I correct in understanding that all of you have had the same job your whole life, have never changed schools, etc.?

And I have the right to call you a bitter idiot who takes an abnormal interest in the lives of 18 and 19 year-old young men. Freedom of speech is great, it guarantees you the right to spout off any idiotic viewpoint you may hold. It does not guarantee you the right to be free of the consequences however.

You don't really have a very good grasp of today's college basketball, do you?

Scholarships should only be revoked based on failing out, or being expelled from school for some serious offense. </p>

to, why do they even sign committment letters, might as well just sign a free agent contract because that's what it's getting to be.............

Sidney was a cancer to the team.....Hehad to know early on thatthere was a reasonable chance that Moultrie was more than likely one and done......He knew Deville's character...He might not have known that Stans would be let go and certainly didn't know who we would end up hiring BUT heknew the heat was on Stans......We all knew that.........

Cal's former players are making over $200MM in salary and endorsements. And most of them only had to spend a year in college.

So you're damn right money is the reason they are coming to play for him.

i haven't seen anyone "demonize" hood. i've seen people blame stans for letting the program (maybe not in Ws and Ls, but in discipline) go to ****, blame strickland for butchering the coaching search, and blame rick ray for not being able to get the #1 offseason priority to buy into his vision and convey his plan to clean up the program and clean out the lockerroom problems. but i haven't seen anyone bash hood.

In the Hood situation.... The 1 year scholarship is bs. Hood was about to be the face of this program, a leader, and he is a Bulldog basketball legacy. There is no way State would have EVER pulled Hoods scholarship. So let's not act like he made some decision to protect himself. If anything, he will be at more risk of losing a scholarship (all be it minimal) by transferring.

As for today's basketball players.....who doesn't know the selfish what can you (coach) do for me attitudes permeating the game. It looks like they want to have a dance off pregame rather than concentrate on basketball anyway. But anyway....I guess the UK resident expert has to educate us. However most State fans felt....giving the guy is a 17n legacy(have i mentioned that yet?), he was loyal to the school first. Also You would think, since his dad played here, his dad had some insight into what was going on. Anyone with common sense who watch a few of our games knew. So he had to know the situation. Then post season, State pretty much does everything it can to right the situation. Hood still wants out. Leaving the logical explanation that Hood signed with State reluctantly...probably for his dad (not for Stansbury or the school obviously) has since decided he wants to be elsewhere, because Louisville or FSU has opened their door, and now he is going to do what he probably wanted to do.

If Stans and Retardo were coming back, I would say I don't blame him. However that is not the case. So excuse the State fans if we are bitter over doing all we can for a legacy and he still leaves. UK, Ark, Bama....you name the school...their fans would go ape.... crazy if the same situation played out there.

...Once he was hired, Ray pulled Hood aside & told him all the ******** is over; serious basketball & all that entails has returned to Miss. State University.

Hood didn't like that, because Stansbury pampered Hood; Hood was expecting the new guy to pamper him also.

So Hood refuses to man up to Ray's demands & hits the road.

That's my theory of what happened (a theory re-inforced by Stansbury obvious "I don't give a ****" attitude he displayed his last 2 years as MSU's coach).

If Hood thought he was leaving for two months now, he wouldn't have been practicing with the team the last week or so. He realized he was going to have to work and hustle (which is what didn't happen in a Stansbury program), so he jumped ship.
