It’s just basically over with. We coupled the most challenging time in our history with a bad hire(s). On top of that our fans are clueless. I’m pretty close to just Getting off the train. May make many of our fans happy. But every fan we lose is one we need.

It just sucks, all the way around.
What happened today to make you post this? This is classic goat bi-polarity.

We’ve announced $12,000,000 in NIL contributions in the last couple of months. What do we have to show for it? Lost at least 3 of our best players & signed 6 low 3* portal recruits.
You are aware a good bit of that is pledged dollars not money in the bank yet right? Also, do people here really think it would be wise to spend it all trying to keep the **** team we had for one more year? We'd be throwing $12Mil at 3-9.
I'm not saying right decisions are being made but I do believe Shapen is better than MVB and I'm just fine we didn't waste $2M to keep MVB one more year and have him hold us hostage for $3M next year.
Like it or not, but until someone fixes the current system, MSU is screwed. We have the least resources of any SEC team and we don't have a bunch of ambulance chaser alums throwing their extorted insurance company money at our players. It is what it is. The current system sucks.

That $12MM isn't a lump sum, it's spread out over x number of years

Can’t argue with any of that. I do think we made the right decision on Van Buren for sure. And probably with Craver too.

Bye. But I’m sure you’ll be back when we have the next lily white AD

Shapen is better than MVB
I agree with most of your input, but can't get on board with this.

1. Did you watch the Toledo game? No matter what the D did, he had to put the team on his back and at least get us three TDs. 2. Shapen will be out for the season by the 5th game. 3. Shapen won't be around for 2026 when we hopefully get a better schedule and have a chance at bowl eligibility (assuming there are still have bowls).

I'm not saying we should have paid MVB $1.5 or whatever he wanted, but MVB gives us a sightly better chance of winning 4 games. Another true freshman (assuming we don't get the QB from FSU) will start at least half our games.

Are they actual contributions (money in the damn bank) or “commitments”?

How much of that $12 million can be spent on players now? I thought it was mostly excellence fund.

We’re punting until 2026.

Did you watch any of the games Van Buren played? It wasn't pretty. And your continued posting that 1 player out of 22 can somehow "put the whole team on his back" and win a game is just ridiculous. Every year of Shapen's career he's had a significantly better QB rating than Van Buren. And BTW, he was better in the game vs Toledo than Van Buren was vs freaking UMass this year.

That 12 million didn’t go into the Bulldog Initiative did it? That’s not NIL money.

Everything is basically going into the State Excellence Fund now. It helps us with the portal.

Who knows how we will do but the portal has been open
7 days. It’s a marathon. We got Booth in April

I know the defense sucked but it sucked all season but the ASU game his interception and fumble both returned for TD's cost us that game.

I don't know about our NIL money, but I can look at what we had go into the portal vs what we gotten out of it. There is something wrong. I suspect it goes back to what many are saying. "We don't have the right guy"
No doubt. The money matters and I’m sure it’s the most important thing… but the coaches matter too. And I think the kids know what we got here ain’t good enough.

Oh, I thought we beat Umass, that must have been a different game. Shapen's 5 sacks vs Toledo are something that just can't happen.

1. Shapen will be hurt by game 5. I read on the other board that he isn't even going to be able to go through spring practice. I hope Taylor is a January enrollee.

2. Even if he starts all 12 and brings us three victories, he'll be gone when the schedule flips in 2026.

Again I'm not implying that we should pay MVB $1.5 mil, but counting on Shapen to start 12 games next year is fools gold. Even if he starts all 12, we'll be breaking in a new QB in 2026.

I would have paid VB 750 to 9 maybe. Did we ever come back with a counter offer or just assume Arnold was a done deal ? If we have the 15-18 million in nil money that’s claimed 150 k Should not be a deal breaker.

Concur. Instead with have a QB who won't go through spring ball and will be hurt by game 5 in 2025. Even if he balls out, he's gone in 2026 which is what we should be building for. If Taylor works out and can take over in 2026, then we may be ok.
