MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – (October 11, 2017) – The West Virginia University Varsity Club has announced that the 2007 Mountaineer Football team, one of the greatest teams ever to wear the Old Gold and Blue, will be recognized for its 10-year anniversary the weekend of Oct. 27-28, with activities surrounding the football game with Oklahoma State.
The 2007 squad was 11-2 overall, ranked in the Top-10 in both final polls and earned Big East and Fiesta Bowl Championships. The Mountaineers finished 5-2 in the league and beat No. 3 Oklahoma in Glendale, Arizona, in the bowl game.
The Varsity Club is asking that all Mountaineers from the 2007 team join with teammates Pat White and Owen Schmitt and celebrate the anniversary of one of the greatest WVU teams of all time. There will be a private dinner honoring the team on Friday, Oct. 27 and then the team will be recognized at the Oklahoma State game on Oct. 28.
