Michigan defensive lineman Alessandro Lorenzetti commits to transfer to Baylor

Michigan Wolverines defensive lineman Alessandro Lorenzetti has committed to transfer to the Baylor Bears. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Alessandro Lorenzetti played his high school football at Loomis Chaffee Prep School in Connecticut. However, he’s a native of Montreal, Québec. There, he was an unranked recruit. Still, he would choose to go to Michigan over offers from Michigan State, Toledo, and Eastern Michigan, among other schools.
In three seasons with Michigan, Lorenzetti did not appear in any games and did not record any stats. He was, notably, named Scout Team Offensive Player of the Week during the 2022 regular season. That same season, he would ultimately use his redshirt.
After beginning his career as an offensive lineman, Lorenzetti was moved to the defensive line while at Michigan. There, he hasn’t been able to see the field but has continued to get work in. He began his career at Michigan under Jim Harbaugh, who has praised him in the past.
“Out of Montreal and going to prep school in Connecticut right now, where he’s playing good football,” Harbaugh said after Lorenzetti signed. “Visited here in the summer. This was the only time we were really able to do evaluations on 2022s, and when everything happened this past summer, a blanket waiver was given by the NCAA where you could do a workout, a private workout. Alessandro came and knocked the socks off of Sherrone Moore, and the recruiting process was really turned up with Alessandro. Great kid, great guy, great parents.”

At Baylor, Lorenzetti will play for one of the best defensive minds in college football. Head coach Dave Aranda is known for his work on that side of the ball, and it should give him an opportunity to reach his potential as a player.
The Bears are coming off an 8-5 season. That was a massive bounce back after struggling to a 3-9 record in 2023. That’s been part of the up-and-down run for Aranda in Waco, which includes a Sugar Bowl and conference title back in 2021.
Baylor currently has the 16th-ranked transfer class in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings. That includes 17 players who have left the program and 15 who have entered the program. However, that number doesn’t yet include Alessandro Lorenzetti.
