Vanderbilt offensive lineman Joshua Raymond commits to transfer to Florida State

Vanderbilt Commodores offensive lineman Joshua Raymond has committed to transfer to the Florida State Seminoles, per On3’s Hayes Fawcett. He will have four years of eligibility.
Raymond played his high school football at Lake Mary in Florida. Coming out of high school, he was a three-star recruit in the Class of 2024, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He was the 1,411th-ranked player nationally and the 104th-ranked offensive tackle in that recruiting cycle.
An Under Armour All-American coming out of high school, Raymond held multiple offers before initially going to Vanderbilt. That included offers from USF, Kansas, and Stanford, among others.
Raymond would play one season for Vanderbilt. However, he didn’t see any action in 2024, instead taking a redshirt. That came in a very successful season for the Commodores on the whole. Vanderbilt went 7-6 and won the Birmingham Bowl. The Commodores also had an iconic upset win over the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Now, Raymond is on the move to a Florida State team coming off its worst season since 1974. That was one year removed from an ACC Championship and prompted a change at offensive coordinator with head coach Mike Norvell bringing in his old mentor Gus Malzahn to run the offense. Known for his spread rushing attack, Malzahn was most recently the head coach at UCF before moving up the road to Tallahassee.

The offense was a major issue for Florida State in 2024. In the end, the Seminoles finished 131st out of 134 teams nationally in scoring offense, averaging just 15.4 points per game. There is room to improve at every level with that kind of result, including along the offensive line. That offensive line helped the Seminoles finish 129th in rushing offense, going for 89.92 yards per game on the ground. They were also 132nd in sacks allowed, giving up 49 or 4.08 sacks per game.
Florida State has turned to the Transfer Portal now, looking to flip the roster. The Seminoles currently have the 28th-ranked Transfer Portal class in the 2025 cycle, according to the On3 College Football Team Transfer Portal Rankings. That has included 31 transfers leaving the program and 20 transfers entering the program. Among those entering the program are six offensive linemen.
