WATCH: LSU assistant coach scolds players for Cheez-It celebration
The LSU defense put on one of the most memorable celebrations of the year during their Cheez-It Citrus Bowl win over Purdue on Monday. With the sun out in Orlando, Florida, the Tigers celebrated an interception by having nearly the entire defense jump into the Cheez-It mascot’s prop bed on the sideline.
While the crowd and LSU players were loving the weird moment, one LSU assistant was far less happy by the showing in the middle of a game and began to yell at his players to get up and back to the sideline.
LSU gets wild with Cheez-It celebration
The celebration started when LSU defensive back Greg Brooks Jr. intercepted a pass and led his teammates over to the Cheez-It bed — where they all began to dogpile onto the bed. Brooks was penalized on the play for the celebration, but the worst punishment might be drawing the ire of their coaches. As the coach screamed at his players to quit the showboating, the crowd nearby appeared to jokingly boo the coach for ruining the fun moment.

For a bit of extra fun, the Cheez-It mascot played along with the hilarious celebration afterward and pretended to have been crushed under the weight of the entire LSU defense. After a quick bit of fake-CPR, he was perfectly fine to continue through the game — after his bed was repaired.
Despite the moment of being upset, LSU’s staff will be hard-pressed to stay mad for long after the Tigers proceeded to finish their season with an incredible 63-7 win in the Citrus Bowl.
