LSU QB commit Walker Howard returns, throws 6 TD passes

LSU four-star commit Walker Howard returned from a month-long absence with a fractured fibula to lead Lafayette (La.) St. Thomas More to a huge 62-60 victory over Reserve (La.) East St. John.
Howard finished the game with six touchdowns through the air on 31-for-45 passing for 548 yards.
He threw the game-winning touchdown with 4:13 remaining in the fourth quarter. He was flushed out of the pocket and running to his left, found Jack Hines for a 29-yard touchdown. Hines had nine catches, 100 receiving yards and two scores on the day.
And Howard, who played the entire game, did it all after being cleared to play earlier that day.
“When the doctor said I was good to go, there was no question,” Howard told The Advocate. “I’m getting on the field. I wasn’t expecting to play the whole game though.”
Howard is the fourth-best quarterback in the country according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. Among all recruits, Howard is the No. 34 overall player in the country.

Walker Howard is regrouping following LSU coaching change announcment
Howard, who is the son of former LSU quarterback Jamie Howard, has been committed to the Tigers for over a year. He has not wavered from that commitment over that time but he has had to reconsider things after it was announced Ed Oregron will be leaving the program at the end of the year.
The following weekend, Howard visited Notre Dame — a trip that had been in the works for weeks. After that visit, Jamie Howard told On3 that he and his son would be reviewing the schools that reached out to him.
It appears Ole Miss may have piqued their interest as it came out this week that Howard is hoping to be visit Oxford, Miss., for the Rebels game against Liberty.
However, OM Spirit’s Ben Garrett reported later in the week the visit was not guaranteed.
