The start of Friday’s opening game in the Baton Rouge Regional between host LSU and Arkansas-Little Rock has been delayed for the second time today, LSU Baseball announced on X/Twitter. The Baton Rouge Regional is currently under a weather delay, according to SEC Network, which was originally expected to televise the game at 3 pm ET before it was delayed.

The original delay pushed the start back to 5:06 pm CT, but rain in the area forced another delay. Rain is now expected to extend into the 6 pm CT hour, according to the Weather Channel.

No. 3 LSU (43-14) hosts in its 13th consecutive playoff appearance and take on the Trojans (24-42) later Friday after losing to conference runner-up Ole Miss, 2-0, in the semifinals of the 2025 SEC Baseball Tournament in Hoover, Ala., last week. The Tigers opened the 2025 season winning 22 of their first 23 games, and are 30-5 at Alex Box Stadium this season.

LSU coach Jay Johnson reportedly paying for student tickets for Baton Rouge Regional

LSU baseball coach Jay Johnson is putting his money where his mouth is. The Tigers manager is reportedly paying for student tickets to this weekend’s Baton Rouge Regional.

A fan account on Twitter posted an e-mail from the athletic ticket office on Thursday after attempting to purchase tickets. The fan was delighted to find his tickets had been comped.

“We are excited to announce that your ticket request will be filled for the Regional this weekend,” the e-mail read. “Your tickets will be complimentary for this weekend’s game courtesy of Coach Jay Johnson! Coach Johnson wants to thank you for your support so he will be paying for your tickets this weekend.”

Other accounts seemed to confirm the news. Lonn Phillips Sullivan of LSUOdyssey.com also posted a screenshot of the e-mail portion confirming Jay Johnson was paying for the student tickets.

It’s a tremendous show of support from the LSU skipper, who has been immensely successful in his short tenure with the Tigers. Johnson won the national championship in his second season in charge, taking home the crown in 2023.
